I just got the final measurements of the big ROAN we were Lucky to get with a friend from America last Year.

It was in January 2013 in Central Africa. We were driving to the bongo camp, a long drive, so we were talking and not really paying attention... when suddendly this Roan ran accross the road and stopped for a few second at about 40 yards from us. Two years ago, we already shot a good 29 1/2 and we were not really looking for one... So, we look and enjoy the beautiful animal. When he walked in an open I could see the trophy and I got very excited.... By the time we got the 375HH and load he was away, off course.... Some 15 minutes later he was at our feet. We only realized that it is a monster... He was a lone bull in his prime, not old and the curve is very pronounced. The biggest horn is: 33 2/8 and the total score 85 3/8.
    Here are some pictures:

    Enjoy some more roan pictures:

Very nice. Strange how the big ones always seem to pop up when not looking for them.

Getting big trophy is just luck.
You just need to be at the right place at the right time....

I hunted a lot in west Africa where I shot many Roan and when I moved to CAR, one of my goal was to get a 32''. In 2011 I was so happy to get one (see below), it was like I was done with the beautiful antelope...
You never know what can happen in the bush….
