Have a general question about semi-auto rimfires and temporary import permits in to RSA. Can I bring one without too much hassle? It would be scoped and have a 10rd magazine. I have a converted to 17HM2 10/22 that I'd like to use for my nighttime springhare shoots. Thanks, Hog

I don't think you will have luck getting either a semi auto or a rimfire into SA.

Im sure if this is wrong someone will correct me.

I would say you are right, both are :nonono:

I sort of surmised the semi-auto would be verboten, but not a rimfire. I have a nice CZ in .17HMR that would work well also.

Contacted my PH and he said my CZ 453 bolt action in .17 HMR is OK.

Business is the only way to fly. I'm headed to SA August 25. I'm hoping that business isn't an arm and a leg. If you don't mind, what airline and the cost for your trip. Mine will be convoluted. I'll be flying into the states to pick up my 416 Rigby as Thailand doesn't allow firearms (pay no attention to the daily shootings and killings) so I'll have 2 very long trips.

Hi EGS

I read your thread with interest. Would you mind sending me that PDF? May I put it on my website?
