Hearing from one Namibian outfitter that the country is in the middle of a drought, the driest in 50 years. Can anyone else confirm or deny that? I'm wanting to go to Namibia next year, but this may delay it a year if true. Thanks in advance.

My understanding is that it is dry. This after 2011 was one of the wettest on record....at least in the Komas Hochland......not much rain since though. I can't speak for the rest of the country.

I got back two weeks ago from a hunt. It's very dry and drought conditions between Outjo and Etosha where I was at. The grass on the two farms I was on was seriously depleted amd rainy season is a while off from my understanding. The main farm I was on told me they were in drought conditions two months before I arrived and was thinning out oryx so I got an extra on the hunt.

Agreed - I just spoke w/ operation in Erongo Region about a last minute trip for Oct, tail-end of their season & I mentioned the drought ... natural grazing grasses are basically gone & hitting the game pretty hard.

Thankfully farming conservancy windmill/boreholes provide the precious water ... I'm told, the area North of Etosha hit abit harder & NE actually had seasonal average rainfall.

It appears regional.

I'm unfortunately on a diet. Presently in VA hospital as Agent Orange finally caught up with me. Cancer and I no longer can speak. If all goes well I'll be out of here and back home in Thailand by end of July. Tough road but I'm a tough old guy. I'll make it that hunt.

Nice one there. I guided for mulies and elk for about 10 or so years in northern New Mexico.

Business is the only way to fly. I'm headed to SA August 25. I'm hoping that business isn't an arm and a leg. If you don't mind, what airline and the cost for your trip. Mine will be convoluted. I'll be flying into the states to pick up my 416 Rigby as Thailand doesn't allow firearms (pay no attention to the daily shootings and killings) so I'll have 2 very long trips.

Hi EGS

I read your thread with interest. Would you mind sending me that PDF? May I put it on my website?
