You know your a real man when you cant decide wether to take the 416 Rigby for plains game because you think its maginal.

I thought your wife drowned you off Hawaii.

Glad your back at it Bart.

With all your encouragement I am working my way up.

I am actually taking a 300 Win Mag along this trip.

I also have a 375 H&H on order.

Not quite ready for the real mans club, but I am training.

A real man uses a bow and arrow.....LOL

Been there, done that. "Truly and completely under gunned"

I want to join Bart's real man club though.

big step up from your old trusty 30.06 bart:laughing:

I would never use a 30/06 Bluey

yeah mate I remember from when I first started here, I just wanted to see if it really was you

We really need to get you on the Outdoor Channel or something...we could call it Big Bores with Bart...we'll put on prime time TV. Real men, big guns and big time adventures!

Welcome back BART, a 416 Rigby is marginal (for plains game) in my opinion. I am sure that Hathcock (if he were still alive) and having knowledge of todays powders and bullets would still use one,,,,,, the 30-06.... :beatingdeadhorse:

Seriously though, welcome back, got any good hunting stories or just stop by to stir up some shit?:heh::heh::heh:

as has been said Bart where you been hiding? good to see you back with another taxing question :biggrin2: yup i agree, i tend to start with my .458 lott especially on up to puku sized animals , i am thinking i need to get a .500 or .577 to maybe move up to the bigger plains game, whats your opinion on those calibres for the bigger antelopes etc? and how did you manage not to be drowned in hawaii? :hmmmer::beer:

As they say in the British Army: "Any idiot can be uncomfortable!":stirring: Welcome back!

How about "Boring Times with Bart" :)

A 416 is marginal as a squirrel gun!
No need to get plains game stuck with a bunch of `skeeter ' bites from one of those little pop guns.

Bigger is better!

Glad to see you are "drying out" Bart. Welcome back!! Glad you didnt use a V for your M in "maginal"!

not to take sides, but wasn't Hathcock's longest shot with a 50 cal?

Yep, with a scope!

Savage Hunter, The Hathcock crack was from a really old post. Back before we understood BART, (which do we? really?) Anyway, it was just a crack, and yes like sest said, with a scope.

yup that would have put a different slant on the question...;) Bart has gone quiet again , maybe the wife has put her foot back on his head and pushed it back under the sea.........:heh:

For those who wondered. Bart told me he was dealing with flooding at home. Dont want anyone to get the wrong idea.

IF YOU DON'T COME UP WITH ANY .458, I WILL TRY AND GET MY KID TO PACK SOME UP FOR YOU BUT PROBABLY WOUDN'T BE TILL THIS WEEKEND AND GO OUT NEXT WEEK.

I'm unfortunately on a diet. Presently in VA hospital as Agent Orange finally caught up with me. Cancer and I no longer can speak. If all goes well I'll be out of here and back home in Thailand by end of July. Tough road but I'm a tough old guy. I'll make it that hunt.

Nice one there. I guided for mulies and elk for about 10 or so years in northern New Mexico.

Business is the only way to fly. I'm headed to SA August 25. I'm hoping that business isn't an arm and a leg. If you don't mind, what airline and the cost for your trip. Mine will be convoluted. I'll be flying into the states to pick up my 416 Rigby as Thailand doesn't allow firearms (pay no attention to the daily shootings and killings) so I'll have 2 very long trips.
