It's early morning, the wind is blowing and snow is still falling. Last night was day four of the first spring bear hunt. The boys were all seeing bears but the weather has been less than spring like. Yesterday evening held the promise of showers and flurries, but then a sudden notice was received that we had been upgraded to a storm warning with 5-6 inches of snow expected. And of course, having received this weather forecast, I just knew we would have a bear wounded..............which is exactly what happened. The hunter had the bear broadside at 35 yards, took the shot and the bear ran into the thick stuff. It was just before dark and as I arrived the snow started coming down and you could not see 5 feet. There was absolutely no blood visible, which is not unusual with bears, but from the description he had of the bears reaction to the shot I am not hopeful. It most certainly was not in the boiler room and no shoulders were broken.........................here we go again.
