Just a quick question. I am planning on going somewhere(probably in Texas) to get a Black Buck to put on the wall. How good is the meat for eating? Thanks for any help

I got one with a bow down in Florida a few years ago. It was good just a little tough. Pound it out and make cube steak out of it. Also my wife makes venison parmasan (sp?) and it was really good in that. Just put it through the tenderizer for sure!

Thanks. I may get one plus an Aoudad and an Axis buck or Fallow Deer buck if the deal I am working on works out.

Post the aoudad picture when you get it. I really want to go hunt one in west texas.

I have killed a couple - depends on the age, but overall I thought it was really good eating. A lot of places will throw in a blackbuck doe for an extra $200 for meat and also makes a great back skin.

Blackbuck is much like all game meat. It's delicious it just must be cooked properly. Many people tend to over cook it. Medium rare tops and it will be great

Thanks everyone Maybe I will be able to put the deal together and get one.

I have shot a few.... free range ones down here in TX. They were on our old lease West of Brady. They were delicious. Just too damn small. I wish there was just more of it. :)

He is a stud - nice mount! Have not thought about that. I have been looking for a monster for sometime now without success.

Thanks. he was a nice rep. I ve redone the base as dog/cats ran amuck over the base. lol . And they don't take up much space when life sized.

My free range Aoudad taken is west Texas. This is without a doubt one of the most underrated hunts in North America. The mountains in west Texas are not easy. Mine was a stud.

Nice touch right?...

I looked at doing the full mount but was afraid the dog would get into it and I would have to get him mounted!

They are pretty tasty!! I got one in Texas and really enjoyed it. Not too much there though.

I'm unfortunately on a diet. Presently in VA hospital as Agent Orange finally caught up with me. Cancer and I no longer can speak. If all goes well I'll be out of here and back home in Thailand by end of July. Tough road but I'm a tough old guy. I'll make it that hunt.

Nice one there. I guided for mulies and elk for about 10 or so years in northern New Mexico.

Business is the only way to fly. I'm headed to SA August 25. I'm hoping that business isn't an arm and a leg. If you don't mind, what airline and the cost for your trip. Mine will be convoluted. I'll be flying into the states to pick up my 416 Rigby as Thailand doesn't allow firearms (pay no attention to the daily shootings and killings) so I'll have 2 very long trips.
