Back Skins Ideas

spectacular lamp. where did you get this made?

Thank you once again @WALKINGPREY2!
@gizmo jipp hippo hide is not used for too many things. We have a ostrich skin couch and it realy came out nice.
Below is also something different than a normal photo, it used as a night light in the bedroom (only way I could sneak a trophy into the bedroom;))View attachment 36098

Here is what I had done with a Nyala backspin

Thank you @WALKINGPREY2, a little thought goes a long way, here is something else I did for my trophy room that looks exceptional and reflects Africa. Dont have photos yet, but also collected a few Black Wildebees skull and horns which I will use as spear and axe racks for the trophy room. Managed to get an old sneasewood fence post and have 4 Bushpig mounted on it in decending size order. Sorry off the skin topic:censored:View attachment 35984

I'd like to see those other displays of yours that you mentioned......any photos of those available yet?

@first safari still waiting for the container to arrive, due to the changes made in the shipping of lion trophies to the EU it has been delayed by about 10 weeks. Will post some pics as soon as I can.
@ArmyGrunt sorry for the late reply:sleep:
Had the glass made in Cape Town, took a piece of railway sleeper and cut a recess in it the size of the glass. Bought a LED from IKEA and drilled a hole the same size as the outer diameter of the lamp about 3/4 way trough from the bottom, then another hole 3/4 size of the first from the top. About a 1 hour job on the stand.
Working on getting some sneeze wood posts imported for my next project;)

I brought my black wildebeest for my bedside mat while on Army training! It's keeping my feet warm, the memories fresh, and the dreams of going back just a-churning!

high five, grunter...........(y)(y)

Now, if only I had the lodge staff to tend my laundry and clean the floors I'd have it made!

Army Grunt, awesome idea, on my way to Africa now, but just came off a month trg in Germany, backskin will be included in my pack next time! As for the lodge service during trg my Army doesn,st do it either on our all inclusive trg vacations. just can,t figure out where to take my complaint ;)

I've managed a few times to get room cleaning services: when staying on post in the hotel! Maybe I should move in with the Basic Trainees and let them clean the floors!

But really, I'd much rather get time away from them. They make my head hurt

Lots of great ideas here! Really like what you are doing Walkinprey2 and have been looking at my decor. But, now I am seriously considering having the skins made into items: maybe a sling, cartridge belt, gun case, vest or jacket? Maybe I will change my mind when I see them in person, but I thought it a cool way to use them.

How do you display back skins?
I'm having the back skin on my blue wildebeest tanned. How are yours displayed? Would love to see some pics.

Thanks!

Mine are very unimaginative i'm afraid, just thrown over a side table (Impala & Springbok).

I use my Impala and Blesbuck as couch Covers, I had Originally intended to use my Kudu as a rug but decided it was just to majestic of an animal to have people walk on it so I had it made into a map of Africa and will put it on my wall

Mine are heading to me this week!! I had a patch work rug made, I haven't seen it yet, but I hear it's beautiful. The people at the taxidermy place are going to make a few more with other , left over skins from other customers.
My son had a couple of pillows made. Photos when I get them..

Hallo Marius- do you have possibilities for stags in September during the roar? Where are your hunting areas in Romania?

I'm about ready to pull the trigger on another rifle but would love to see your rifle first, any way you could forward a pic or two?
Thanks,

Love your rifle! I'm needing a heavier rifle for Africa. Sold my .375 Dakota Safari several trips ago. Would you have any interest in a trade of some sort involving the custom 338/06 I have listed here on the site ( I have some room on my asking price. I also have a large quantity of the reloading components and new Redding dies as well as a box of A-Square Dead Tough ammo.
