An interesting discussion on another thread has led me to ask a question
on my wishlist are kudu gemsbok Springbok Mountain zebra and blesbuck.
are these animals native to the Etosha region of Namibia
also are there any animals that are unique to this area that I should absolutely not leave without pursuing
thank you in advance for your input.

I don't believe blesbok are native to the area....Jerome knows for sure!

The dik dik, klipspringer, red hartebeest, caracal, steenbok, maybe common duiker and giraffe, spotted hyena, cheetah, leopard, and lion.

I would add a red hartebeest!!!

Hello Trap123,

You might ask your outfitter if there are Damara Dik Dik in his area.

Blesbok are not indigenous to Namibia and were introduced there.

I thought you educated me on the blesbok thing a couple years ago...

I could not remember if black or blue wildebeest were native either? I don't believe they are native species.

Black Wildebeest were introduced in Namibia.
Blue Wildebeest are indigenous to Namibia.

where did blesbok originate

South Africa....seem to be ABUNDANT there...East Cape especially, but the surrounding Provinces too.

where did blesbok originate

Originally only in South Africa, from eastern and northwestern Cape Province through the Orange Free State to the southern Transvaal and marginally into Natal. Though they once occurred in countless thousands, they were relentlessly hunted by early settlers until they nearly disappeared. In recent years, blesboks have been widely introduced and reintroduced into nearly all parts of South Africa until there is a wider distribution today than in the past, all of it on fenced properties and reserves.

A eland is native too, if you can afford one, put it on the list :). I know the list is growing!

sounds like quite a success story that probably would have turned out differently without hunters and Hunters dollars........AWESOME!

Damara Dik Dik for sure, they are found/huntable only in Namibia.

I think Namibia's greatest native animal and one of its finest hunts is the Hartman Mountain Zebra.

Absolutely Hartmans Mountain Zebra! I have 2.

Damara Dik-Dik is on list for next trip, my Caracal from Namibia will be chasing it.

Mountain Zebra are an absolute must if you're hunting that part of Namibia. My father took one several years ago and it is certainly a beautiful animal. The plains zebras are nice, but not quite as nice as the Mountain Zebra.
Another animal to consider is the warthog. The first trophy I took on my first trip to Namibia was a warthog and to this day they are my favorite African animal. I just wrote a profile about them on my blog if you're interested.

Hallo Marius- do you have possibilities for stags in September during the roar? Where are your hunting areas in Romania?

I'm about ready to pull the trigger on another rifle but would love to see your rifle first, any way you could forward a pic or two?
Thanks,

Love your rifle! I'm needing a heavier rifle for Africa. Sold my .375 Dakota Safari several trips ago. Would you have any interest in a trade of some sort involving the custom 338/06 I have listed here on the site ( I have some room on my asking price. I also have a large quantity of the reloading components and new Redding dies as well as a box of A-Square Dead Tough ammo.
