Here's a Zebra hunt with a slight difference. Client used his .470 double which means that one has to get close, less than 80 yards. Not easy in open terrain. Congrats to Stephen Tam of Tam Safaris for an excellent stalk. Sometimes things work out :)!

Here's the video:

Thank you. Correction, .... lone cameraman :) Wish I had a B-Cam on those hunts!

Filmmaker,

Getting close to zebra in any setting is not easy.
I applaud you for this work.
Yours truly has taken a zebra at about 40 paces with a double (.450 No2 NE hammer gun) but it was in a shady thorn forest (refer to my Photos) and it took more than a day or two to get within range of a mature stallion.
Credit for this one goes to my Tracker & PH, as always.
I only follow along quietly, anyone could do my part, even me.

Likewise, I am always impressed with how well zebra can remain on their feet after receiving a substantial gunshot wound like these.
I shot the one I mentioned above, spot on the shoulder, as he was quartering toward us, with a 480 grain soft.
He only staggered, then regained his balance and bolted on three legs with his crew, for a few yards then bashing into a tree trunk.
He was possibly dead a second or two prior to that tree?

I enjoyed you film of the .470 / zebra action.
And, will look forward to more when you get a chance to post.

Cheers,
Velo Dog.

I'm unfortunately on a diet. Presently in VA hospital as Agent Orange finally caught up with me. Cancer and I no longer can speak. If all goes well I'll be out of here and back home in Thailand by end of July. Tough road but I'm a tough old guy. I'll make it that hunt.

Nice one there. I guided for mulies and elk for about 10 or so years in northern New Mexico.

Business is the only way to fly. I'm headed to SA August 25. I'm hoping that business isn't an arm and a leg. If you don't mind, what airline and the cost for your trip. Mine will be convoluted. I'll be flying into the states to pick up my 416 Rigby as Thailand doesn't allow firearms (pay no attention to the daily shootings and killings) so I'll have 2 very long trips.
