Just a thought if anyone else has a pet peeve about some of the stupid things hunting show hosts say during a "recovery". My top 2 are "whack 'em and stack 'em" and the other is when the cameraman is already behind the animal and the hunter "looks" for the animal, then turns and points and says "there it is!" What are yours and maybe the editors or producers will pay attention, too?

Personally I get tired of the "you hit him hard." Well of course I hit him hard, I shot him with a high powered rifle. The question is whether he was hit in the right spot. And while I've experienced a certain amount of the high you get after a particularly challenging hunt, mostly anymore there's a certain amount of solace I feel when taking this animal's life. Standing over the animal and hooting and hollering for me is a bit disrespectful.

Too tired to think of one liners, but I absolutely hate when they finally kill an animal and they spend 20 seconds on showing and paying respect to the animal before they move on to commercials or something else. Sickening! Be thankful!

Not really sure why but the terminology; "We're going to try to take down" this or that animal, has always rubbed me the wrong way.

It annoys me to here them (or anyone) say "that's what I'm talkin' about."

I hate the line "this is the mackdaddy of fill in the blank product.

but the worst, as was mentioned, is the looking for the deer while the cameraman is already there.

One thing that bothers me is that on every show they are always very successful on a hunt. I know it's TV and not supposed to be reality. I was watching a show the other day where the guy was sitting in a blind hunting deer in the winter over what I eventually saw was a big pile of feed. I couldn't watch it anymore since it just seemed so unethical to me and wouldn't even be illegal where I live. Kind of makes me wonder how else they "cheat" to make these shows.

"That was a good hit! A lttle far back, but it was a good hit, yea!" (Fist pumping, bumping, and thumping)

There are more very good shows nowadays. But most of the Whitetail shows, not so much.

Not hunting but has anyone ever seen Roland Marten catch a bass that he claimed weighed at least four to five pounds when in fact it couldn't be over 14-15" long?

"Shoot em, Shoot em", by swamp people

I dislike the "celebration" with fist pumping and the "got it done" comments as if it were a chore to completed. Seems somewhat disrespectful to the animals we hunt.

+1.

I hate the inflated scores that they claim, as a official measurer for P&Y and Longhunters it insults me when they exaggerate, it seems they are about a third higher than realtime!

Now I know when I yell at the t.v. I realize that i am not the only one who thinks its just ridiculous. I can show these posts to my wife so she knows other normal people think the same way!

You're presuming she'll think we're normal.....

All of this makes me glad I don't have cable or a dish. I never watched any hunting shows and I know now that I am not missing much. If I want to see hunting I have to get out into the woods, fields or mountains and get to it myself.

I trust my life to X product!

And plugging of products that had nothing to do with the success of the hunt.

Add "Smoked him!" to the list.

Weeeeelllllllll................ I still have her convinced I am normal, and I don't want anything to upset the balance of the universe, etc.

Enjoyed reading your post again. Believe this is the 3rd time. I am scheduled to hunt w/ Legadema in Sep. Really looking forward to it.
