Israeli teachers protect their students...whenever children are on a field trip, you will always see at least one armed chaperon with them.

if you read what happened in the usa, the malls in rsa, youth camp in sweden and elsewhere in the world---
what if some the teachers or parents on the spot with the kids were armed and trained?
it makes you think, hey?

Actually, they started the practice in 1974, after some horrible school and school bus killings. There were two main fractions of responses: making all schools gun free zones, or arming the teachers (provided said teachers had finished military training which most young Israelis have). Since then there have been no successful school shootings, and I know that armed teachers stopped at least one shooter, and shot one suicide bomber on the pavement outside a school. Makes you think? I wish some people would!

i agree

would the outcome maybe have been different if a total stanger or unrelated bystander decide to get involved?

where does our [moral?] duty/responsibility start or end?

I don't think it would work in the USA, we have too many lawyers, judges and politicians protecting the dumb and stupid.

Don't knock it, you guys at least have a 2nd amendment and SOME rights. Heard from a patient today that he was attacked by 4 aboriginals in his own back yard. He was knocked in the head several times, probably with a brick, and had fractures to the skull and an epidural haematoma. He suffers from neurological defects and PTSD as a result. Not only did the magistrate put the main offender out on bail (he is still walkabout), 2 others got minimal sentences, slaps on the wrist really, while my patient will have to face court this week because while being attacked in his own home, he raised a rake against his attackers (he did not even hit anyone with it)!!! Police told him it was an "affray" (?!?), and that house owners should always have a back escape way open so they do not get in conflict with "home invaders". Oh, the joys of living in New South Wales!:banghead:

its not just nsw timbear .at home in victoria they are always getting away things very simalar and when some one does sort em out they are crucified for protecting theyre self presavation

So do I take it correctly that in NSW if one is on the street walking and gets accosted by a bad guy one can not put up a fight to protect oneself and only run away IF POSSIBLE and if that is not possible (as in being perused) one must submit to taking a beating with weapons or else run the risk of a court date?
Here in Arizona, USA we can carry a hand gun concealed or open carry, no license needed, except for a background check upon purchase of the weapon. We recently had our state Governor sign an addendum that allows us to "pull the weapon" from the holster if we feel threatened. We can't of course "brandish" it but with cause, pull it in preparation for use. If one does drop the hammer on a bad guy, then you would in all probability be arrested and have to prove that the shooting was warranted. The rules of the game are pretty strict and you'd better be right but we can drop a perp if we are threatened with great bodily harm and can prove it. If the perp turns to run away the shoot scenario in ended. Any engagement of the perp with the weapon after he turns to run away is grounds for a long prison sentence. The "threat" stops when he turns.
Now, some of our states require one to run out the back door instead of protecting their homes and families and other states have the "castle doctrine" of no retreat is required from ones own abode. It all depends on where you live. BTW, there were more gun deaths last year in Chicago, Illinois than in our war in Afghanistan and Chicago has one of the most stringent gun restrictions in the entire country.
Here in the USA the unlawful use of a handgun by those licensed to conceal carry is very low, about 0.002% That is about the same rate as the unlawful use by police officers.

gday cliffy
id neraly put money on it that the great state of arizona has one of the lowest violent crime rates ,in the whole continent

Unfortunately NO Phoenix, the capital city, has the highest kidnapping rate in the country due to the influx of drug carriers crossing the southern border by the hundreds every day. Mostly confined to those involved in the drug trade but criminals none the less. Most of our crime is drug related. Lots of people carry but there'slots of drug crime. Most "ordinary folks" don't get bothered.

druggos ,stuff theyre own lives up and take everyone else down with em .seems its the same story everywhere

Our 2nd amendment is always changing, but you are right....we have it a LOT BETTER than you do.

things might be looking up in the uk on home defense. a homeowner shot 2 burglars with a shotgun and they were arrested when seeking treatment at a hospital. the homeowner and his wife were also arrested and given the usual by the police . when the 2 burglars went to court their lawyer asked they be given a lenient sentence as they had been shot. this is the good bit as its now on the books and has set a precedent. the judge said "anybody who breaks into a property where there is a legally owned shotgun must expect to be shot" :thumb::clap: and the couple were exonerated, and had no record. a bit of sense in the uk at last . to that judge.

Hurray to that. Can they please export the judge to Australia?

:daydreaming:It was worth a try!:ballchain:

It's starting to come out now on youtube (and I was wondering when it would as I remember the first 2 days after the shooting) that there was no AR 15 (Bushmaster) used in the class rooms. It was left in the car. The lefties over here just conveniently jumped on the AR subject and the media didn't dig into or remember the first reports.

Cliffy, that if what I call a inconvenient truth......accurate news reporting on TV, LOL.

Hopefully the next President and Congress can fix the mess we have gotten into, because the current one isn't doing anything!

Nevada is an "open carry" state. We realize guns are not "evil" and that we have the right to protect ourselves and our families. Unfortunately, that is not the story with a lot of the country! Hopefully, we will eventually get people elected in this country who can understand that simple premise!
