Where to buy Federal ammunition 9,3x74R

Have you tried Frankonia while you are here in Germany?

I found two boxes Federal 9,3x74R 286 grs Swift A-Frame - at Zimbi! Thanks for the great hint. I also got hold of Federal loaded with STX.
Well, now let me get a buffalo...

i was referring to this post....seems someone has them still.....

Hi,
I am currently in Brazil, but my son in the gun shop has done the research etc.. NO Woodleighs at all coming into RSA!!!
ALL he can get is RWS solids in 293gr

Rosenthal in Cape Town has done stock.

I asked them, they don‘t have stock.

When using TSX on buffalo I don‘t need solids anyway.

Not a good bullet in that caliber for Buffalo, if using the Rhinos I would agree. Rather use the Swift A frames.

IvW, why not good in 9,3x62/9,3x74R for Buffalo?

There are better more consistent performing bullets such as the Swifts you have.

The TSX perform better at higher velocities. Reliability is also an issue(expansion). The small hole makes use of hydraulic action to expand which is better achieved on thin skinned softer animals as opposed to hard skinned thick shouldered buffalo.

They are of rear weighted design(as opposed to forward weighted as per Rhino).

Lastly I do not like barnes bullets in general except for the banded solid.

I‘m a great believer in Dr. Kevin 'Doctari‘ Robertson: "It was a big change when 286-grain Barnes X-Bullet bullets became available. When fired at an honest 2,300 fps, these superbly performing bullets, I discovered, had enough penetration for both side-on and full-frontal chest shots at the biggest of bull buffalo. So the Xs became my buffalo bullets for the Nine-Three."

Well, that‘s all I need to know when it comes to the 9,3x74R and buffalo.

Ask Federal to see if that can ship to you.

I contacted Federal of course but they never replied. No dealer is prepared to assist either.

I have also found this strange that some local SA Gunshops and Dealers are reluctant to order specific ammo and even sourcing rifles. Others are very open and try to arrange and deliver what is requested.
I would have thought that a business opportunity would be welcomed.
Make an order, pay a deposit if so required, wait for the delivery, pay the balance.... Seems straight forward to me.

Between you, @Bruce and @IvW and being from the same general area, perhaps you could make a plan.
Good luck with your quest for your desired ammo.
And stay safe in Hermanus.

I realize how hard the bug has bit. I’m on the cusp of safari #2 and I’m looking to plan #3 with my 11 year old a year from now while looking at my work schedule for overtime and computing the math of how many shifts are needed….
