26 Elephants Poached inside Chobe National Park

Gee, maybe if Botswana stilled allowed hunting, the poachers wouldn't be going there.

is their some reason poachers are not just killed?what goes around comes around!!!african politics does not care about human rights.

Sad news that just keeps coming. The antis get this stuff and associate it with hunters and it just feeds their agenda.

The article indicated that the area was guarded by the Botswana military. Interesting that this can happen right under their noses.

The only and best way to prevent elephant poaching is to open up safari hunting again...otherwise its downhill aka Kenya...how sad..

Usually the BDF aren't reckoned to be slouches when it comes to anti poaching...

That's what I had heard before so it makes one wonder!

I was in Chobe last year and saw lots of live elephants and 3-4 dead ones. According to the tour guides, many die from anthrax. Also, it's commonly agreed upon by knowledgeable experts that there are way too many elephants in Chobe. Nobody likes to see poaching but if Botswana allowed hunting in order to maintain reasonable and sustainable levels, everyone would win. When there are too many elephants, all the other animals suffer.

As the title says, that's not wonderful news.

Didn't like the snide remark about hunting concessions on the far side of the river from Chobe much.

Best.

Scrummy
Looking at Google Earth, which is hard to hide from anymore, the area they say had the poaching incident was far from Kasane, where they say people are claiming to "smell the stench" from rotting carcasses in the hunting conservancies in Namibia. Clearly this article is anti-Namibia due to the Namibian government banning anti-hunting laws. (Did they actually pass that?)

Any article that starts with "ShockWildlifeTruths" will be anything but that. Here we have the antis clinging to a tragedy and using for their own gain. You'd think they'd want to work with hunters since hunters want wildlife to flourish, too. The article is as bad as the elephants that were poached. A total waste.

Interesting that the stench and population are well apart. Good catch!
I also think that 375 RugerFan is dead on the money. Too many elephants in an area warrants controlled hunting.

I realize how hard the bug has bit. I’m on the cusp of safari #2 and I’m looking to plan #3 with my 11 year old a year from now while looking at my work schedule for overtime and computing the math of how many shifts are needed….

I'd like to get some too.

My wife (a biologist, like me) had to have a melanoma removed from her arm last fall.

Hallo Marius- do you have possibilities for stags in September during the roar? Where are your hunting areas in Romania?
