To my wife’s dismay I watch a lot of outdoor TV. I’ve noticed some illegal and to me unethical conduct. The latest illegal act was on a sea duck hunt in Maine. When the host was cleaning his birds I noticed a drake harlequin duck. I’ve hunted 7 states on the Atlantic coast and have been told and verified by regulation books that harlequin are protected in the Atlantic flyway. I don’t know if this has changed but I doubt it.
The other recent show to me unethical act was a guy on a mule deer hunt and shot at a deer and the buck did the rear leg kick of a well hit deer and after looking around a bit he declared a clean miss and went on to shoot at another buck, at the shot you could hear the thump of a bullet meeting meat, he declared another miss and went home without a deer.
Anyone noticed any thing similar on outdoor TV?

Several hosts of various shows have been charged with game violations. Usually under the pressure for the "money shot" for TV. I don't watch most of those shows, I watch a few, but its so few, that I am thinking about dropping the Outdoor and Sportsmen's channels just not worth the money for the few that I can stomach.

I’m back to getting three channels in Montana, I’d rather read a book or AH then suffer through anything on TV anymore. Between the adds with boys kissin and all the other shit I don’t buy into I’m a lot better off since I got rid of the dish. Most of the “hunting shows” are just a promotion of one thing or another and make me want to vomit.

I’m about in the same frame of mind, I do like seeing new twists on cooking game and hopefully see an area I may want to visit .

there are a couple I still watch but most of them get a pass from me. It is all marketing and too much talking, talking, talking from people calling themselves hunters when they are completely guided start to finish. -most of them would never cut a tag in public hunting on their own.

In my opinion YouTube has the best hunting content, TONS of options and you can pick and choose whenever you want. I haven't had cable since I left home at 18 for the Marines, I figure if I cant find something to watch on YouTube I need to find something else to do.

Imo, the entire media aspect of the hunting industry is a money game now just like anything else. A bunch of guys trying to get famous and have their ticket paid. Or even worse than that super rich guys that create their own tv show to get famous. The worst to me are these idiots preaching extreme range shots using big 20 power scopes with big turrets setting up on hillsides. Heard absolute horror stories about some of them getting kicked off ranches out west…all about getting the right footage you know, lots of wounded animals. Most of them a fat out of shape dudes that probably couldn’t skillfully stalk an animal in old school fashion if their life depended on it. But I’m an old curmudgeon that believes that anything with a motor shouldn’t be allowed for hunting other than parking on the edge of a main road.

Morning on the whitetail hunting show, as you see perfectly filmed video of a deer quartering too and the hair puffed at the last rib..... "That was a good hit Good hit. Yea it might be a little far back but... It's a good hit!" "We're going to just give him a little time"... the next morning they find a deer chewed up by coyotes.....

I like This is Africa, Tracks accross Africa. Most of Jim Shockey's stuff but not that BS where they sit in the studio talking. Always liked Under Wild Skies. Rugged Expeditions.

Difficult to stomach most pig and whitetail hunting shows.....

While I do watch more than I should but the news makes me want to vomit and don’t want to watch people looking for Bigfoot and things like that. I mostly pay attention to the Africa shows but as soon as they start coursing game with a truck and shooting from the high seat I go back and watch
The history channel or something like that. My internet isn’t good enough to stream so I’m at the mercy of a satellite dish.

@Hunt anything was the seaduck hunt in Maine on the show Wildfed?
I quit watching the "hunting shows"on the boobtube long ago. Very few were anywhere near realstic and they wasted so much time yammering commercials. If you purchased all the "Necessary" crap they say you just gotta have every time you step outside you'd need a gang of porters to lug it. Most of it is so rediculous I had to laugh.

Love Rugged X, I've corresponded with Alain. Seems to be a really nice guy, and his sense of humor hits me right in the funny bone.

Used to watch Team Wild on YT, also very nice guys, very little advertising as I recall. They haven't released any videos in a few years. Don't know what happened to them, but it was a cool show. They did a 7 or 8 part series for a moose and black bear hunt in AK. One of the things I really enjoyed about their show was that they frequently showed how much effort went into a hunt, not just the money shot.

I've watched Pig Man or Hog Man or whatever he calls himself. I wish he'd go away. Used to kinda sorta like Keith Warren, but he got pretty annoying, too.

Wish there were some Asian channels, with mangrove swamps, rivers, wetland after both fur and feather game ,dangerous game in a tranquil place where arazis arnt around .

I realize how hard the bug has bit. I’m on the cusp of safari #2 and I’m looking to plan #3 with my 11 year old a year from now while looking at my work schedule for overtime and computing the math of how many shifts are needed….

I'd like to get some too.

My wife (a biologist, like me) had to have a melanoma removed from her arm last fall.

Hallo Marius- do you have possibilities for stags in September during the roar? Where are your hunting areas in Romania?

I'm about ready to pull the trigger on another rifle but would love to see your rifle first, any way you could forward a pic or two?
Thanks,
