Whitetail Hunt Saskatchewan

My outfitter in Saskatchewan has some openings to fill on his Whitetail hunt. Once considered the mecca for free range bruiser whitetail, Saskatchewan has been overlooked for the past few years.

The big Whitetail deer are still there, we have openings throughout the year if you are interested. The area is over 60,000 acres and is home to some big deer. This is Indian land and one of the big benefits of the hunt is the multi species license. With their license you are not limited to just whitetail. On license you are allowed one of anything that walks in front of your stand. You can also purchase and additional license to keep hunting if you choose. License covers one: whitetail, elk, mule deer, moose, bear, bison, wolf or caribou.

The Whitetail hunts are 6 days long and include food, lodging, transportation, heated blinds, airport pickup and trophy prep. The hunt is $5,000 plus license of $500. You can take additional species if you purchase additional tags at $1,500 each.

There is a $1,000 penalty however if you take a Whitetail smaller than 140".

I am heading up for a hunt this year as well as Steve Scott will be in camp filming for one of his TV shows. We have some openings if anyone wants to join that week as well. We will be in camp the third week of November.

Pickup and drop off will be from Saskatoon airport.

Dory - Ever been to northern Saskatchewan in late November? Could very well be -20 to -30 deg F. Typical hunt is staying in the blind from before daylight until after dark. Heaters is more for survival than comfort.

Buff buster is right on the money, it is freaking cold.
I'm not sure who came up with the idea we should suffer and be miserable to hunt? I like to be comfortable and enjoy the experience not the misery.

id love to hunt in Saskatchewan, im told its where the whitetails come out of the womb , measuring 135.........
them temps are farinhiet , dory , not celcious......

And once it hits -40 it is the same in both Fahrenheit and Celsius.

Add in a little wind and you can freeze any exposed skin in seconds. even at "only" 20 below.... You will appreciate a heated blind with a bucket in the corner

I can actually dress up and work or walk around comfortably enough at 20 below... For a couple hours at a time... But sit still in a tree stand? No way!

the coldest ive ever been in is the blast frezzer at the co.op where we unload our fish.-15 c .
I can only imagine stalking in -30 .

Walking is relatively easy. The hard part is sitting in your chair after even a short walk. ANY sweat, and I mean ANY, and you can be screwed! I have hunted at -40 and I can tell you that it isn't fun. It is however something I would recommend doing. It's nice to see how others experience hunting in their locales. Here in Canada it can be tough at times. Here's a quick example...
I killed a mulie meat doe and with the wind chill the temp was close to -65C. I only had to drag her about 45 yards. Threw her in the truck and made a 5 minute drive to where I would gut her that was sort of out of the wind on that bald assed prairie. My buddy was standing with his back to the wind, jacket held open wide trying to break the wind for me. I gutted that doe in less than 10 minutes and the fluid in her joints was freezing. Her legs were already stiff.
It took more than half an hour before I had the full range of motion in my fingers again.

Aah just stick your hands in the gut cavity for a minute or two when they get cold and it'll warm them up nicely. Then it's back to work.
