Looking for a good African hunting trip in 2015. A bird/few plains game hunt for francolins, waterfowl and a bush buck, warthogs (hopefully more than one warthog) & maybe a kudu. My wife will go with me for the trip so lodging needs to be nice! I would appreciate recommendations for a good reliable and honest outfitter and best time for such a hunting trip to South Africa. Thanks

FAR...

What you are looking for you should be able to schedule.

What is your break down in day's to help our resident PH's out.

Example for a 10 day safari:
Bird hunting like 4 days...
Big game like 6 days.

Will you be bringing your own shotguns or will you be renting? The Ammo and weight is why i am asking.

Going after:
1 bushbuck
2 warthog
3 kudu maybe?

Any other animals that you would consider?

Good day sir. We offer exactly what you are looking for in the Northwest province of South Africa, just more than an hours drive from O R Tambo airport. Feel free to PM me or contact me.

Try Marius Goosen and KMG Safaris in the Eastern Cape. Lots of people have hunted with him. I have hunted with him twice. First time we where 2 couples and the girls where treated like princesses while the guys where hunting :) He has also opened his brand new lodge if I am not mistaken. Looks great from the pictures and I have been to the area. I have taken 2 warthogs and a kudu +++with him, both my hunts where kind of off-season, march and november so quite hot. Still I got my bag. Next time there bushcuck is on the top of my list for sure. Even though i haven`t wone any wing shooting I bet he can arrange it. PM me if you have any questions:)
PS: In the eastern cape you don`t have to hassle with malaria, billharzia and all that stuff. You just get on the plane and enjoy :D

will the plainsgame be trophies or culling?

Thanks. I will be interested in A) Birds: francolins, waterfowl, B) 1 bushbuck and 2 warthogs and maybe 1 kudu. Will bring shotgun (o/u Perazzi) but will have to buy shell locally (there is a weight limit for ammo when flying). Will bring rifle (30-06 or 300 WM) and ammo for it. It is important for me that the PH or his assistants be good and familiar with hunting birds as it is more important to me to have a good shoot (birds) than plains games. Thanks you.

Sir, we do wingshooting over well trained pointing dogs. In the same area we have the plainsgame you are looking for. Have a look at birdhunt.co.za.

Thanks Bob, I sent a message to Paw Print yesterday but haven't heard response yet. I told them I wanted to hunt francolins and if possible waterfowl and take a bush buck and a couple of warthogs and maybe a kudu. I want them to give me some detail on the hunt and pricing, not just generalities! Anyway, thanks for your recommendation have a great weekend.

Welcome Farrokhrt,

I'm unfortunately on a diet. Presently in VA hospital as Agent Orange finally caught up with me. Cancer and I no longer can speak. If all goes well I'll be out of here and back home in Thailand by end of July. Tough road but I'm a tough old guy. I'll make it that hunt.

Nice one there. I guided for mulies and elk for about 10 or so years in northern New Mexico.

Business is the only way to fly. I'm headed to SA August 25. I'm hoping that business isn't an arm and a leg. If you don't mind, what airline and the cost for your trip. Mine will be convoluted. I'll be flying into the states to pick up my 416 Rigby as Thailand doesn't allow firearms (pay no attention to the daily shootings and killings) so I'll have 2 very long trips.
