Wanted CRF Rifle In 300HH

SkullKeeper, there are lots of 300 H&Hs listed on Guns International. Including a bunch of Pre-64 Winchesters.
Yes sir I’ve been cruising lots of sites. Trying to come across a FN action rifle or even just a suitable action possibly

Want some ammo? I've got several boxes of Federal and one box of Winchester..

I’d be looking at pre-64 Winchester’s, cogswell and Harrison’s, and some tier-2 British makers.

prices should range from $2000-$4500 based on condition.
I certainly will. (C&H made good rifles at one time, they seemed to have good and not-so-good guns depending on the time frame)

No idea when the not-so-good era would be? What’s your budget? The worst C&H, all kinda screwed up, drilled, tapped, side mounts, stock chopped to 12”, no bluing, you’ll be north of $2k

I read that at some point post WW2 that the quality of C&H diminished for a while but that it rebounded later on.
I would say I’m in the $2K budget range all together.

At at your price the only quality gun I can think of would be a completely trashed pre-64 that is drillled for a now missing G&H side mount and Lyman 48 sight.

Take a look at cherrys fine guns in Greensboro NC they have 2 or 3 pre 64 mod 70 Winchesters. And a pre 64 mod 70 375 h&h.

And a pre 64 hornet. That could a be a great all around arsenal.

Great post. Of the 3-4 they have, this is the one to get:

I might have an extra Pre64 M70 I’d consider parting with.

I have a pre war M70 Super Grade in 300 H&H I may consider parting with. I have two 700 Classics in 300 H&H that both shoot lights out and I have my grandfathers 49’ M70 in 300 as well. Probably don’t need four rifles in 300.

I realize how hard the bug has bit. I’m on the cusp of safari #2 and I’m looking to plan #3 with my 11 year old a year from now while looking at my work schedule for overtime and computing the math of how many shifts are needed….
