I'm out of it and been looking for probably a couple years. I just bought a rifle I'm going to take to Africa for Buffalo-a M70 50 B&M. The data I have shows only H-4198 and IMR 4198. The IMR requires a couple more grains of powder to achieve similar velocities. A couple grains is no biggie for me, I'd just like to have a choice of powders to compare when I start doing load testing.
Same lot number if possible, the fresher the better. Nothing 10yrs+ old please.
Thanx
Curtis

proceed with caution if you try buying from rifle-armory.com or sportsman’s gun shop.com, I just checked and they only accept cash app,Zelle, etc. that’s usually the first sign of a scam

We've been down this road before. If it doesn't take a credit card, it's 99.9999% a scam website. Even if it does take a credit card, there's no guarantee either. They'll take your CC and three digit code, all your personal info and then reply there was a problem, Please pay with another method. You now have a whole other problem. your credit card is on the dark web.

Edit: There is no H4198 and won't be until these wars are over. If you can get IMR 4198, it'd be a good idea to get it while it's still available. Most of my LGS are out of it. We use it as a substitute for H4198 in our smokeless muzzleloaders.

Edit: Not a good idea to just google your want list, especially firearm related items. Deal with reputable long time vendors like Midway, MidSouth, Powder Valley, Graf's, Third Generation shooting supply, etc.

Thanks for everyone's input. I use a scam identifier/detection program before buying anything online:
https://www.scam-detector.com/
With the low ratings these 2 sites have there is no way I was ever going to be duped by them.
Thanx
Curtis

Last I checked, there were 1498 gun related scam websites. The two posted by ruger375 fan are listed on the following site as scams.

Sorry about that gents, my Norton security usually marks unsafe websites and missed those.

Selway Armory is showing 8 @ 1 pound IMR 4198...but $50 per.

:(

We have IMR 4198 on shelf. No H 4198. We do not have hazmat shipping services tho. But will be at DSC and can deliver. Send me a pm if can help

I’m in the same boat. IMR 4198 builds pressure faster than H4198 and doesn’t achieve the same max velocity. Food for thought. Contact Mr McCourry, Michael458, himself. He’s a wealth of information and has helped me out with a 416 and 458 B&M shooting the 225 and 250 CEBs.

You could also look at Reloader 7 and 10x.

How about Accurate LT-30?? I've never used it, but it's on the same line as 4198 and Norma 200 on the powder burn chart I like to use. And it's available from reliable sources.

I'm in contact with Michael every couple months. He has helped me out a lot as well with my other B&Ms, but with the H-4198 not so much. I have a 9.3, 458SS, 50 B&M AK, and a week ago picked up my 50 B&M. I bought the 50 B&M used from the gunsmith who built it. He never quite got around to finishing the job so I have a little work to do before I leave for Africa. Sights and Cerakote for sure. I haven't fired it yet so I don't know about the trigger. The guy who built it had used it on Safari so I'm expecting the trigger to be good.
The others were built for me by SSK, but they no longer do custom builds for individuals.

I realize how hard the bug has bit. I’m on the cusp of safari #2 and I’m looking to plan #3 with my 11 year old a year from now while looking at my work schedule for overtime and computing the math of how many shifts are needed….

I'd like to get some too.

My wife (a biologist, like me) had to have a melanoma removed from her arm last fall.

Hallo Marius- do you have possibilities for stags in September during the roar? Where are your hunting areas in Romania?
