Walmart announcing they will no longer sell (pistol) "short barrel" ammunition, BUT THEY will continue to sell rifles and shotguns.

First question is: What is their interpretation of (pistol) "short barrel" firearms?

Second question: How are they determining the difference between someone wanting .22, .357, .44, .45, .223/5.56, 410 and the list goes on, for a rifle or a pistol?

Third question: (Here in East Tennessee/ Southwest Virginia, Walmart alots only 1 or 2 rows of shelving for hunting/shooting accessories and only one or two display cases (10-20 total) for firearms.)

By only limiting certain ammunition they will quit selling are they trying to "ride the fence" avoid the reprecussions Dicks and Yeti received from the hunting and shooting sports enthusious?

Customers are already complaining about Walmart doing away with cashier's for self check out only.

Will people start looking for and return to shopping at custom friendly "Mom and Pop" stores that helped make America Great?

Thank them for supporting America's independent gun shops

In the mean time get ready for a 9mm, 38 special, 357, 44 shortage as folks start to hoard them like .22 LR several years ago

Unlike the .22 shortage, local gunshops, online stores will still be selling the calibers you mentioned as long as the ammunition manufacturers continue to produce those calibers.

Short answer to your multi point question. Besides handguns, short barrel firearms are those 12-16 inch barrel AR type weapons. They are mainly .223/5.56 cal, but also are available in most pistol calibers and 7.62x39 and .300 Blackout. I am sure there are others also. They will continue to have long rifle hunting ammo such as .270, o6, 3030 etc. Dick's and Yeti ? No comparison to Walmart. If a "sportsman" can no longer buy a 500 round can of 5.56, and he decides to also not buy, groceries, tires, batteries, toys, clothing etc......he will not be missed in the overall picture. Most shoppers do not go into a Walmart to buy guns and ammo. That time passed some years ago. Self checkout? Except for the small Mom and Pops, that is quickly becoming the norm, not the exception.

Ah , Walmart.
Used to be a great place for buying .22 Winchester Magnum Rimfire ammunition for my Wife's Savage Semi Auto rifle

Haven’t been in a WalMart in I don’t know how long, just another reason to continue that streak.

Hi Joshlee0518 (please let me know if you are fine being addressed like that),

Thought I would drop you a PM. It is super exciting to plan a hunt and we are more than happy to assist you. Have you given any thought yet to which species you would like to take?

What do you hunt usually and which weapons/calibers are you using?

Look forward to swapping experiences and ideas.

Happy hunting - Daniel
