Thank for the reply! Some nice animals!

How long is the drive from Cadjehoun Airport in Cotonou to the hunting area? Does the travel time count as a hunting day or can it be arranged separate from the hunt? OR How much is charter airplane to hunting area?

10 hours driving , hunting areas are on North , travel time is not counted in hunting time; safari 7 days or 10 days is really 7 or 10 hunting days.
About charter we are not in Zim or SA and the is no charter company, but some private pilots could do that, from cotonou to natitingou airstrip, i send you quickly the information.

Ok WalGreen gives free flu shots and for a trophy like that its worth it Great offer.

How many lion are on quota and what has your success rate been for the last couple of years?

He has one lion and one hippo tag.

Thanks Eric! Sounds like your pondering the possibilities too!...lol

Certainly I'm checking into it. It looks like an excellent hunt.

One lion and one hippo.
We are full book every year, but some hunters are afraid of Ebola, so there are opportunities this next season

Thanks Yvelines. Are your lions hunted by tracking? What has your success rate been? Do you have pictures of previously taken lions and possibly some pictures?

I'll repeat Buff-Buster. What is you success on lion and other game like roan, buffalo, waterbuck, hippo, duiker, pigs etc.? I recognize that Benin isn't known for big-mane lion, but a male lion is a male lion, so what is the chance for a shot?

i'am late sorry, yes the Lion is hunted only by tracking in Benin, no bait, no call.
no lion this year, because no hunter for lion, our hunters search buffalos first and antilopes, a lion safari is expensive and with the fee and taxidermy it's more.
last year a french hunter got a good one, see the picture lion 1.

the chance ? i'st not SA and tracking a lion is really difficult, but we have a lot, 6 last years : 3 lion safaris and 2 lions, but the hunter who hunt with me had 2 good opportunities and he can't take one.

So if I understand this correct. A 12 day lion hunt is 10,000 euros, giving a hunter a 66% chance at a lion. An extra 3,000 euros or so for the lion trophy fee.

Is this correct?

Looking forward to your answer to Spoonieduck's questions.

All the best.

Wheels you are correct, he told me all the other plains game is available and you can fill every tag with representative animals. They have good buffalo, but if you want record book animals, all the tags may not get filled.

I think it's an excellent hunt, I registered for classes yesterday to try to finish college, except going part time after May 2015, so I'm out. But I think it's a great hunt, wild Africa, it will be hot out. And transitioning from below zero weather to extreme hot would be hard on me. I know I could do it if I was in better physical shape. I will continue to monitor this hunt though, it looks exciting.

I was more interested in the plain game part, but for a lion hunt, it's affordable.

I'm unfortunately on a diet. Presently in VA hospital as Agent Orange finally caught up with me. Cancer and I no longer can speak. If all goes well I'll be out of here and back home in Thailand by end of July. Tough road but I'm a tough old guy. I'll make it that hunt.

Nice one there. I guided for mulies and elk for about 10 or so years in northern New Mexico.

Business is the only way to fly. I'm headed to SA August 25. I'm hoping that business isn't an arm and a leg. If you don't mind, what airline and the cost for your trip. Mine will be convoluted. I'll be flying into the states to pick up my 416 Rigby as Thailand doesn't allow firearms (pay no attention to the daily shootings and killings) so I'll have 2 very long trips.
