SOUTH AFRICA: Mountains & Valleys

thanks for the invite Bruce- all I can say is that if I actually lived over there I'd be flat broke. Of course you have to come to the this side to hunt whitetail deer, elk bighorn sheep .... who am I kidding !! ;) I'd rather be in Africa !!
Seriously, for those that might know- what are the rules for living over there for 4-5 months of the year? Work restrictions ? I could see myself spending some more time over there in my retirement based on whether I could actually work some while there.

Nice report and pics, what an adventure. Congrats!

Good stuff... not 100% sure of the work/ residents permit laws but will get somebody to find out... I am not i RSA at the moment and probably only back there early next year, pre- my Feb hunt in Zim.

Can't say I'm big into the "book" but I don't often kill a top 20 either :) Just confirmed through a Master SCI scorer and submitted my paperwork to SCI: #12 Southern Mountain Reedbuck. 16 6/8.

I'm unfortunately on a diet. Presently in VA hospital as Agent Orange finally caught up with me. Cancer and I no longer can speak. If all goes well I'll be out of here and back home in Thailand by end of July. Tough road but I'm a tough old guy. I'll make it that hunt.

Nice one there. I guided for mulies and elk for about 10 or so years in northern New Mexico.

Business is the only way to fly. I'm headed to SA August 25. I'm hoping that business isn't an arm and a leg. If you don't mind, what airline and the cost for your trip. Mine will be convoluted. I'll be flying into the states to pick up my 416 Rigby as Thailand doesn't allow firearms (pay no attention to the daily shootings and killings) so I'll have 2 very long trips.

Hi EGS

I read your thread with interest. Would you mind sending me that PDF? May I put it on my website?
