I just saw an old movie with Clark Gable, Mogambo.
In the movie he both cleans and uses a rifle.
It looks like a classic safari rifle without scopes.

Always when I see a rifle I try do determin what type it is. ( Im not so sucessful but it is fun trying )

There must be a lot of movies where the story is about anything else than hunting but where hunting is included.

Do you know about other movies ?

Three Stooges, several episodes with Africa and guns, good luck though I could'nt figure out what kind they were.

Jumanji, with Robin Williams, the guy that was hunting him had a DG rifle unlike any other.

The Last Safari (1967) with Stewart Granger
Red Dust (1932) Clark Gable

The Naked Prey (1966) Cornel Wilde

Trader Horn (1931) Harrey Carry

White Hunter, Black Heart (1990) Clint Eastwood

The Macomber Affair with Gregory Peck. Good shooting scenes.
Safari with Victor Mature
King Solomons Mines with Stewie Granger

Another decent quality hunting movie : THE HUNTER, and it is a story taking place in Tasmania, that of a man in pursuit of the last Tasmanian Tiger in spectacular scenery. Starring Willem Dafoe (Platoon, The English Patient, Born on the Fourth of July, Mississippi Burning etc) and Sam Neil (Jurassic Park). The movie is made in Australia.

Hatari is a must and personal favorite of mine as I hunted very near where it was filmed.

My favorite, as far as hunting, scenery and old rifles is concerned, is a movie called 'JEREMIAH JOHNSON' starring Robert Redford. Was filmed all over Utah, if I remember correctly.

Business is the only way to fly. I'm headed to SA August 25. I'm hoping that business isn't an arm and a leg. If you don't mind, what airline and the cost for your trip. Mine will be convoluted. I'll be flying into the states to pick up my 416 Rigby as Thailand doesn't allow firearms (pay no attention to the daily shootings and killings) so I'll have 2 very long trips.
