Hello all,
Anybody out there know where I can find plans for making pedestals? We just got our SA trophies back from customs and would really like to make my own pedestals. I really like the octagonal and pyramid pedestals
Thanks for any help, palefty

l like that idea ,of making your own .
id get some iron bark stumps and shape my own ,or a young wattle tree and cut the branches to suit .
mmmmm now im thinking .......

I spent a bunch of time looking of them online, never really found one. I am a building designer & can design my own, but I'm not much of a woodworker... The one I want I think was 500 or so.. can't really make it for that much anyway.. not for a nice one.

Thanks guys I'll keep looking if I see anything I'll post a link

I have been looking for the perfect one as well for over a year. I bought a cheap end table for my gemsbok just to put him up. But some day I will build one out of back walnut and maple. (I love the two tone look) Just need to find the perfect table with plans......

Here are a couple of black walnut pedestals that my Dad and I built. They were done without a set of plans, so there was a lot of trial and error. Once we got the template down, we went to work. Ended up building 6. (Eland, waterbuck, kudu, gemsbok, baboon, and one for my next trip to Africa)The gemsbok is actually a wall mount that I converted for the pedestal. Palefty, Sorry I can't help you out with plans, but I wanted to brag a little.

All Octagons.

What did you use for weight in the bases? if any?

By the way they look good.

Wood pedastals are really not that hard I made this one for my wifes Zebra the top and Zebra are both removable to use the bottom as a hideout storage area. if you have a skill saw and a table saw you can build one. first decide on how many sides you want to have then just figure out what the angle will be, for an Octigon set you table saw at 22.5 degrees and make sure all your cuts are faceing to the inside. Good Luck

Thanks. They are all octagons, but we built one that had longer sides for my eland. They are heavy enough that they did not have to be weighted.

I'm unfortunately on a diet. Presently in VA hospital as Agent Orange finally caught up with me. Cancer and I no longer can speak. If all goes well I'll be out of here and back home in Thailand by end of July. Tough road but I'm a tough old guy. I'll make it that hunt.
