Hunting reports

This was my first hunt to Africa so was a bit nervous as to what to expect
What a surprise!! Absolutely fantastic
We hunted with Makalaan hunting safaris near grootfontein
Our PH was Antoine Louw who is owner of the 13000 acre farm. me and my 16yr old daughter where treated as part of the family
the hunting was fantastic i have never seen so many animals of all types roaming free, at times Antonie stalked us to within feet of some of the animals truly amazing he also had the time and the passion to explain what was going on around us (tracks, birds, insects, snakes ect )

I managed an Impala, Gemsbok, Giraffe, 2 huge warthog and a couple of Jackal for good measure
my daughter managed a warthog and a Zebra

Congratulations on your family hunt.
That is quite an average on Warthog.

Thanks for the report.

Antoine runs a great operation and is a very nice guy. Congrats on a great safari!

Congrats on the hunt, and thanks for sharing !

Glad you had a good hunt and thanks for posting your report! I also hunted with Antoine of Makalaan Safaris in June 2012. Also had a great time, Antoine runs a great operation and is a very good PH plus fun to be around. I was lucky to harvest 9 animals on my trip. The Eland hunt was a tracking hunt and one I will remember for a long time.

Hello Ermin,

Congratulations to you and your daughter on a successful hunt!

Can I inquire as to what flights/airlines you took to get to Namibia please? You're only just up the road from me and it would give me some sort of pointer as to what to look into.

Hello Ermin,

We flew with SA airlines was first rate staff was well informed as regards firearms
Flew heathrow to Windhoek via south Africa tambo
Would suggest that you give yourself 4hrs in tambo just in case.
Do not pack bullets with firearms.
Double check that all your bags are checked through to windhoek this is very important or you will have to fill in paper work in SA and you want to avoid that if you can
Anything else you want to know don't hesitate
Good hunting

Thank you, if I have any more questions I will be sure to ask. :thumb:

Congratulations to you and your daughter! Many great memories to cherish. Thanks for the report! Very nice hunt.

I'm unfortunately on a diet. Presently in VA hospital as Agent Orange finally caught up with me. Cancer and I no longer can speak. If all goes well I'll be out of here and back home in Thailand by end of July. Tough road but I'm a tough old guy. I'll make it that hunt.

Nice one there. I guided for mulies and elk for about 10 or so years in northern New Mexico.

Business is the only way to fly. I'm headed to SA August 25. I'm hoping that business isn't an arm and a leg. If you don't mind, what airline and the cost for your trip. Mine will be convoluted. I'll be flying into the states to pick up my 416 Rigby as Thailand doesn't allow firearms (pay no attention to the daily shootings and killings) so I'll have 2 very long trips.
