Looking to hunt lioness in South Africa in April 2016 does anyone have any updates on the issue? Was told last year there might be a change in early 2016 I want a lion but if no rule change I will wait but if there is a change coming I at least want a lioness before they shut it down or restrict imports to US. Any info would greatly be appreciated.

This is a completely uneducated guess, but with this administration and the Cecil debacle, you might want to get it in.

Dont ask bluey about lion imports , he goes all funny !!!!

Wow that escalated quickly!
Yea Blueys beloved Aussie Govt have banned all lion trophy imports , Im trying to find out what the NZ rules are at the moment .
I wouldnt wait to long if you can import any lion products at the present .
I cant see it getting much better in the short term .
I can see it getting harder here in New Zealand thanks to the antis in the States .

Blueys ordeal scared the heck out of me and made me worry about my getting my lioness back. I am hoping that nothing changes. But yeah it is definitely something I would wait on it you want to get one back. I actually saw a non-export lion hunt advertised :( I hope that is not a sign of things to come.

If you want to hunt a lioness I would book it and go ASAP!

I have not heard anything this side yet - If i do, will update you guys...

It has been quiet here on the topic of being closed down... However there is much stricter rules to applying and the issuing of permits by our nature conservation department.

I can help you with a lioness and make sure it leaves the country within a couple of months. I have an agreement with my taxidermist that all lion will be first and highest priority at all times.

Let me know and I canset you up!

Best regards,

Jacques

That makes a big difference. Just because you hunted it in time does not mean it is home in time.

ask bluey @#$%^&*((( #$%^&

As others have mentioned, I would try my best to book the lion hunt and get it done early next year if you can. There is no way to know what is coming, if anything, in regard to lion imports/exports but I bet any new changes that do come will not make it easier to do so.

I will tell you that the experience of the lion hunt itself is something very special and worth the cost of the hunt IMHO. That being said, my lion trophies from last October have just now gotten to the US after an additional few months delay thanks to Delta's boneheaded decision to cease shipments of legally obtained trophies such as mine. Now, I have my fingers crossed that everything goes smoothly as they clear USFW and Customs and that everything made it in perfect shape and ready to be tanned.

Got word from PH last night he should know something by next week as to changes to the lion industry in South Africa bad news was lioness went up to $9000 due to the looming possibility of a closure I hope it goes good and price drops as I am not willing to pay that . If I was rich it wouldn't be a problem.

I'm unfortunately on a diet. Presently in VA hospital as Agent Orange finally caught up with me. Cancer and I no longer can speak. If all goes well I'll be out of here and back home in Thailand by end of July. Tough road but I'm a tough old guy. I'll make it that hunt.

Nice one there. I guided for mulies and elk for about 10 or so years in northern New Mexico.

Business is the only way to fly. I'm headed to SA August 25. I'm hoping that business isn't an arm and a leg. If you don't mind, what airline and the cost for your trip. Mine will be convoluted. I'll be flying into the states to pick up my 416 Rigby as Thailand doesn't allow firearms (pay no attention to the daily shootings and killings) so I'll have 2 very long trips.
