KYRGYZSTAN: Cynep Meh A Hunting Aventure In Kyrgyzstan

What was the reason the other guide wasn't at the new camp site?

Jeff,

I never did get an answer to that question or to where the horses went after 6 days. That extra trip in the middle of the night almost cost me big time.

John

Agreed! It's quite different what other cultures and outfitters expect from their clients. In Africa you usually can't lift a finger to help, but others have experiences like yours. Glad you are all in one piece!

Hell you are one really committed bloke. I admire that.
Just one question, will you do this hunt again.?, just asking so that I can warn the Ibex...

Yes, but don't warn the Ibex, I plan on sneaking up on them next time!:cautious:

Glad you survived.

James,
Good morning,
Yes, I am still working through all the equipment that went into the water, sat phone was toast, rifle is being sent to the gunsmith for repairs and a complete check. Everything else, equipment wise seems ok, My fingers with the frostbite are still quite numb, but seem a little better.
The story will continue as soon as I have some time.
Thanks

John

Here are a few more photo from the trip:

Wow.....sorry you didn't get your Ibex, but glad you made it back to enjoy our winters.

I'm glad you are ok, sounds like it was pretty wild. Thanks for the story.

Now thats and Adventure! Bloody crazy stuff. A lot of people would be mortified you actually paid for the experience! Ha ha Campfire story for sure, any near death adventure has to rate highly. Not sure you are of stable mid wanting to go back for another round though. LOL Hats off to you mate. Thanks for sharing.

Sure Glad you made it home Safe to tell us all about it. can't wait to hear about the next adventure.

Arizona.........................that is a wonderful report, and a true adventure. Interestingly, Kyrygy hunts have the most viewers on this website judging by the hits on "deals", so there is a lot of interest. But it took quite a bit of guts to do it solo as you did.
I love your fotos, especially of the Blue Mosque. The sign behind you in one of the fotos, translated, says "there are no Ibex in this district" (I may have translated that incorrectly)

Anyway..............my hat is off to the Caped Crusader.................well done...............................FWB

Bugger, I thought that I had a prick of a time before and after my last hunt! Just goes to show no matter how bad you think you've got it- someone out there has it worse!

Glad you are o.k. in the short term, who knows what sort of arthritis this sort of injury will bring on?

What I want to know about a story like this is- how did your equipment fair after it's swimming lesson?

I have spent no less than 2 Mongolian winters and 1 in Kazakhstan working, not hunting, so I can relate to altitude, and dry cold.

Thanks for the translation, I had a feeling that might be the message on the sign:D

drew,
The biggest equipment problem I had was my rifle, I sent it back to the builder, as it was a custom rifle, the effects of bouncing it off the rocks into the water are to be determined. The sat phone didn't work after the bath, dried out after I got back. Everything thing else was fine after drying out. As for me, I am going to the doctor today for a check up and to look at the frostbite, my wife and kids are insisting I go get checked out.

Hallo Marius- do you have possibilities for stags in September during the roar? Where are your hunting areas in Romania?

I'm about ready to pull the trigger on another rifle but would love to see your rifle first, any way you could forward a pic or two?
Thanks,

Love your rifle! I'm needing a heavier rifle for Africa. Sold my .375 Dakota Safari several trips ago. Would you have any interest in a trade of some sort involving the custom 338/06 I have listed here on the site ( I have some room on my asking price. I also have a large quantity of the reloading components and new Redding dies as well as a box of A-Square Dead Tough ammo.
