Well, after three phone calls and a trip to the airport I have learned a few tid bits about KLM :

You have to call to reserve a spot for your rifle in cargo. Actually, call once, call a second time two weeks later and then go to the airport and get a reservation for your weapon. Make sure you get the customer service contact number. You will need to call again to make sure your reservation is confirmed before you fly.

If you plan to use a tuffpak don't plan on putting anything in it with your firearm. Make sure you call, call again two weeks later and then go to the airport to find out they have a strict policy that you cannot have your "personal belongings" in the same case as your firearm. So, that expansive tuffpak can have a firearm and ear protection. That's it.

Thought I would pass this along.

T minus three days...

Just tell them that you wrap that pair of pants and jacket around your ears when you are in the field.

I'm surprised that you didn't list the minutes and hours until your flight leaves.

Good luck.

Oh man!! This Type A personality see it as a limitation date not an escape date. :ROFLMAO:

I have sat with my vodka tonic(s) and puzzled it through. The significant risk that my underwear would impede a proper inspection of my firearm is a legitimate concern.

Seriously, the lady at the desk at the airport said to the person she was conversing with on the phone that when she was at delta she saw these cases all the time...she then put the phone down and told me they had a firm policy.

I'm thinking someone is power tripping......

They are still bitter about getting their hat handed to them on the EU trophy ban vote.

LOL. Safe journey counselor - and a successful one.

Have a great trip. Hope you get everything on your list!

What is on your list Pheroze?

I would love a Gemsbok. Kudu is iconic and I think a must on my first trip. After that I really do not have a plan. I really just want to be in the field, with my sons, and take what opportunities come up (within a budget of course)

I want old animals, those with worn horns and scars but not ugly. (The animal equivalent of Sugar-Ray Leonard not George Chuvalo if you know what I mean lol) If it gets shoulder mounted I want to see a life's tale in its skin and horns. If not, then I will probably tan the hide for cartridge belts and the like, and euro the skulls.

Sounds like a wonderful plan. Great that your sons will be with you. I treasure my time with my youngest last year.

Looking forward to the report.

Look forward to hearing the final report. As well as any other tidbits that KLM throws your way.

Best of luck on the trip Pheroze, looking forward to the report!

I'm unfortunately on a diet. Presently in VA hospital as Agent Orange finally caught up with me. Cancer and I no longer can speak. If all goes well I'll be out of here and back home in Thailand by end of July. Tough road but I'm a tough old guy. I'll make it that hunt.

Nice one there. I guided for mulies and elk for about 10 or so years in northern New Mexico.
