Hallo from Sarel

Welcome to our group! You will find quite a few kindred spirits who are pretty leery of any of this post WWII nonsense (well maybe not when housed in a Blaser R8 / S2 or a Rigby ;) - but I digress). Unlike the plastic things, I am convinced classic rifles and cartridges have souls - or at least fey spirits that accompany us on our adventures whether in the back pasture or across an ocean. Look forward to hearing more.

Welcome to our forum Sarel. I believe you already have friends here! Stories about one of your hunts or one of your rifles...either will be welcomed here!

Hello and welcome Sarel!

Brian - Fantastic picture. Guard this peace of history but also put it to use. It is a cartridge that can kill what ever comes your way and only lacks penetration on Elephant and Hippo. In which part of the word do you live?

Welcome to AH Sarel.

Quick, someone find that man a couple of Mannlichers. That is a terrible thing he has had to do just to fill those two holes in his wall.

Welcome, it sounds like you have some stories to tell.

Hi to all comrades in arms. I am a Namibian and South African citizen. I was born, with a gun in hand, and raised on a farm in the north-western part of Namibia known as Damaraland. I now life, part time, in South Africa. I have hunted in various countries including the US and Canada. I collect famous fire arms, being arms that are famous by Make; Design, Function, Tradition or Calibre. The corner stone of my collection being the Mannlicher Schoenauer rifle. Of which I have all models and only short a few calibres, which are hard to find in South Africa.

Welcome to the forum.

I live in California's Sierra Nevada, near the southern entrance to Sequoia National Park.

Not much chance at elephant or hippo here, but there are plenty of rather 'beefy' feral hogs which are non native, invasive, and destructive.

Welcome aboard Sarel. That is an impressive collection of MS rifles. They are indeed something to be proud of. I wish I owned one or two. It looks like you and Red Leg have more in common than you know.

Great intro. Welcome to the forum!

Hi Sarel....

What a beautifull collection of Mannlicher-Schoenauers!!!

Can you please tell and show us more about your rifles?

Models, calibers, value, storys,..... what calibers are you still missing.... may be, I can help you to find.

I am also a collector, and I use my rifles whenever I can.

HWL

I'm unfortunately on a diet. Presently in VA hospital as Agent Orange finally caught up with me. Cancer and I no longer can speak. If all goes well I'll be out of here and back home in Thailand by end of July. Tough road but I'm a tough old guy. I'll make it that hunt.
