Stan,

Love all the photos.

The big bull has some of the thickest tusks I have ever seen. Do you mind telling us the diameter of those tusks? Were all the elephant taken in the Nyae Nyae?

Fabulous trophies. Please leave the photos posted. They certainly belong here.

Did you take any of the elephant with your new Outschar?

Is the double your Anderson Wheeler?

Thanks for sharing.

Merry Christmas.

Bluey,
My IT guy has no idea why these photos show up in this thread. I think it is improper to post them here.

Wheels,
The diameter of the big one I shot in Nyae Nyae is 21.5 inches. Both tusks were thick all the way to the end. I was using 500 MDM. The rest of the Bulls were shot in Zimbabwe and I was using Heym .470 NE. I did not dare to use the best grade Anderson Wheeler as I was afraid to make some stretches. AW was much sweeter to shoot and a lot more accurate though.

Thanks for the info Stan.

For their length those are very heavy tusks. Congratulations!. (y) I would love to see a photo of just the tusks if you don't mind posting.

Understand why you wouldn't want to scratch the Anderson Wheeler. The couple of photos I have seen it is a beautiful rifle. The 500 MDM has got to be a great rifle to carry on those long walks.

All the best.

A beautiful one tusk Elephant hunted in South Africa.

TIA great pictures and thank you for sharing. I'm doing a hunt in September of this year and I'm studying every picture I can to understand tusk weight.
Can you please tell me weight and length of the first picture from 2010 from the
Niasa area. Thank you!

I'm unfortunately on a diet. Presently in VA hospital as Agent Orange finally caught up with me. Cancer and I no longer can speak. If all goes well I'll be out of here and back home in Thailand by end of July. Tough road but I'm a tough old guy. I'll make it that hunt.

Nice one there. I guided for mulies and elk for about 10 or so years in northern New Mexico.

Business is the only way to fly. I'm headed to SA August 25. I'm hoping that business isn't an arm and a leg. If you don't mind, what airline and the cost for your trip. Mine will be convoluted. I'll be flying into the states to pick up my 416 Rigby as Thailand doesn't allow firearms (pay no attention to the daily shootings and killings) so I'll have 2 very long trips.
