Hunting reports
Africa

Hello!
My hunting partner and I just booked our first hunting trip to Africa a few weeks ago, and literally it is all that both of us can think or talk about! Our wives are already tired of hearing about it--which is too bad because it is still 11 months away. This site has been invaluable thus far, and I am sure it will continue to be. We will be hunting out of Kimberley, South Africa with Amakulu Safaris (South Africa - Amakulu Safari in the middle of South Africa). We put alot of thought into choosing our outfitter, and the decision was finally made based on a few personal recommendations we received from acquaintances who have hunted with them. So far, everyone we have dealt with (Nico Smith, John and Nadia Ekkenberg) has been outstanding. Our hunt dates are the last two weeks in May of next year. Since this is our first time over, we decided to do a management/cull hunt, which although not trophies, will allow us to take 8-9 different species each; plus, we can add trophies if we desire. My friend has a 12 year old, and my son is 4, so we are already discussing when we should plan trip number 2 and include them! We, like many others on the site, will be using Lori for our travel arrangements (who has been great to deal with as well). We both have alot of experience deer hunting, and we do alot of waterfowl and bird hunting, but this will be our first hunting trip outside of our "comfort zone." But, needless to say, we are both so excited we can hardly stand it! Thanks to all for this great website!

I'm unfortunately on a diet. Presently in VA hospital as Agent Orange finally caught up with me. Cancer and I no longer can speak. If all goes well I'll be out of here and back home in Thailand by end of July. Tough road but I'm a tough old guy. I'll make it that hunt.

Nice one there. I guided for mulies and elk for about 10 or so years in northern New Mexico.

Business is the only way to fly. I'm headed to SA August 25. I'm hoping that business isn't an arm and a leg. If you don't mind, what airline and the cost for your trip. Mine will be convoluted. I'll be flying into the states to pick up my 416 Rigby as Thailand doesn't allow firearms (pay no attention to the daily shootings and killings) so I'll have 2 very long trips.
