In Graeme Wright's book 'Shooting the British Double', he talks about British style stand-up shooting benches, with a couple of photos. What type are you using? Would you post pictures?

I’ve shot at Holland and Holland’s. Wonderful leather covered standing bench. I have no pics but I’m sure you could google it.

For an improvised standing bench, I take 3ea 5 gallon home depot buckets stack them together and put on top of a normal bench. Put a Coleman camp pillow on top and shoot off it.

I use shooting sticks for that. Bog Pod sticks for $90. Something like this:

The object of the discussion is not a portable rest, it is a standing benchrest used by the Brits in the regulation of heavy rifles. They are an outstanding tool in that you get all of the functionality of a benchrest from a standing position. This allows you to effectively manage the recoil of a heavy rifle with the precision of a bench rest.

I'm unfortunately on a diet. Presently in VA hospital as Agent Orange finally caught up with me. Cancer and I no longer can speak. If all goes well I'll be out of here and back home in Thailand by end of July. Tough road but I'm a tough old guy. I'll make it that hunt.

Business is the only way to fly. I'm headed to SA August 25. I'm hoping that business isn't an arm and a leg. If you don't mind, what airline and the cost for your trip. Mine will be convoluted. I'll be flying into the states to pick up my 416 Rigby as Thailand doesn't allow firearms (pay no attention to the daily shootings and killings) so I'll have 2 very long trips.
