I'm not drinking much these days and have always been more of a beer guy when I did. My preferred vice is for a good cigar. Well my local cigar bar, which also serves alcohol, had an event a few weeks ago with the folks from Balvenie. So since someone or two have mentioned Scotch, I thought...

For whatever reason I've not had luck with H4350 in any of the calibers I've tried it in. It is supposed to be quite close to IMR4350. The IMR version works very well in a .30-06, 7mm and my .375HH. Why the H4350 doesn't is likely just my rifles are finicky about it would be my guess. I say...

    First time to Africa question

I've always taken my own hand loaded ammo. If you research it a little more the idea is to have the ammo in a container meant to carry it so that isn't loose and sloshing around. I've carried my ammo in plastic MTM boxes and never had a problem.

Nothing wrong, the design is for three rounds fully in the magazine. It’s one of the criticisms often cited against the M70. You can get a fourth started enough however to make it a 3+1 without having to snap the extractor over the rim. Having said that my M70 manual says you can do that and...

That is correct. The other figure that seems to be lightly discussed is the Labor Force Participation rate. If you choose not to be in the work force, that number drops. If you choose to be in the work force, the number increases. But if you don't have a job, then that increases...

Well what can I say, I'm the guy at the party hanging out with the dog, a party killer. Again nothing against either of the calibers, they've both proven themselves. But I wouldn't head down the road of saying a .338-06 has what the .338 WM has either. And in reality the .35 Whelen is...

Fair enough. I took a look on Sierra's loading data website. The link below is for the .338WM and 225 gr bullet. It shows max loads for 3 powders at around 70gr and muzzle velocities above 2800fps, about 2850fps average. A fourth load listed is 78.3gr of RL-26 for 2933fps. Unfortunately...

    >35 Whelen versus. 338 Win Mag TKO values (modified)

Well I was trying to maintain an apples to apples comparison. This information may be accurate, but it makes this an apples to oranges comparison. A couple of holes: 1. 70gr of CFE is not 20% less than the 74gr of RL-22 powder load I looked up for the .338WM. This was part of why the OP...
