I am planning my return to Southern Africa for 2023 and need help on what to hunt. This will be my fourth and probably last trip to Africa. My plan is a 10 day Eastern Cape hunt and right now I only have two animals that I would like to hunt, Nyala to replace the wrong one the taxidermist sent...
It's has been more than 3 years since I shot my Cape Buffalo in Zambia, 1 year to ship and 2 years at the taxidermist. I have been requesting pictures during the process but other than one when the horns were mounted to the form I hadn't received any until they e-mailed me to say the mount was...
Hey guys I was offered a Smith and Wesson model 27 in 357 Mag and 3" barrel in VG condition for $300 and would like some opinions. I have a couple model 686s, how do they compare. I'm in Canada so the short barrel is classified as prohibited here however I have a prohib license so I can...
Happy New Year all,
The cape and horns from my 2017 Zambian Buffalo have finally arrive at the taxidermist so I need some ideas on mounting. I am still open as far as shoulder or pedestal mount but I would like to somehow be able to showcase the bosses. Any ideas or pictures would be...
Contemplating making an offer on a used Holland and Holland 375 rimless bolt action and would like your guidance/opinions.
This is what I know so far:

Good day all,
I am still on my quest for a rifle in .416 Rigby. I have found a slightly used Ruger M77 Safari Magnum here in Canada that seems to be fit the bill. I would like all you big bore guys to chime in with your opinions on this Ruger.
Thanks in advance,
After using a .416 Rigby to shoot my first Cape Buffalo at Mbizi in Zambia this year I have added to my "African
Addiction" by deciding I should set out on a quest to purchase a .416 Rigby of my own.
That's where you guys come in, I would like opinions on what manufacturer I should be looking...
I'll start at the beginning. I had just returned from a very successful plains game hunt on the Eastern Cape with Luccca African Safaris October of 2016 when I made the decision to go on my first DG hunt for Cape Buffalo. My plan was to go in 2018 with Eldre Hattingh from Lucca Safaris as he...
Good day All
Leaving for Zambia in 36 hours for my first DG hunt for Cape Buffalo. For some reason this feels different than any of the other hunts I have been on and not a hundred percent sure why.
I've done my homework, from reading many books on shot placement, endlessly watching YouTube...
Hi All,
Just pulled the trigger on a Cape Buffalo Hunt in Zambia for mid August.
My "Cruise Director" tells me this is the last trip we are taking that involves hunting.... I guess I'll be on my own the next time.
My plan was to return to South Africa in 2018 for Buffalo but I just couldn't...
Hi All,
I am a little bored waiting for my flight to Vegas so I thought I would post this question:
What's every ones thoughts on using the Marlin lever guide gun in 45-70 Govt. for free range Cape Buffalo?
Any thoughts or opinions appreciated.
Thanks
Good day all, I am in the process of planning a DG hunt for 2018 and have a few questions in that regard:
1) I am undecided on whether to hunt for Cape buffalo or Lion, which would be the best for a newbie to DG hunting.
2) Does SA have free range DG
3) What other African countries should I be...
Good day all and all the best for 2017.
Now that 2017 is upon us I have made the decision to head to Africa on a Dangerous Game Safari. That being said I thought I should take advantage of the collective knowledge base here on AH and ask some preliminary questions.I am not a first timer to...
Over last few years I have only been on two South African safaris with two different outfitters and after a lot of research it came down to their personal approach that was the deciding factor in my decision. So my question for you is: With there being hundreds of Safari outfitters in Africa...
This was to be our second South African Safari and although we had a fantastic first 2012 Safari with Cruiser Safaris in Limpopo we had decided to try a different area of South Africa. So after some searching we settled on the Eastern Cape (The Karoo specifically). We booked our Safari with...
Looking to book a safari in a different area of SA. Has anyone hunted with Umlilo Safaris? Who else should I check into from the Eastern Cape. Would also like to do some fishing while I'm there.
Thanks
Hi all, just joined up yesterday, was to South Africa in 2012 and planning to return next year so doing a little research. Not sure but am thinking of going to a new area/country. Will probably be hard to beat my lasst trip but going to give it a go.
