I am wondering if anyone has a suggestion for a place to go on a hog hunt in Florida. I am going to Captiva Island in January with the family. Beaches are good but I get restless quickly. So, I figure a hunt for some tenderloin would be a good distraction. Ideally, it would be something I could manage as a day trip, will allow for some real walking and I could borrow a gun (probably too late to get ATF clearance for mine). Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.

Hopefully someone with experience down there can help you out.

Worst case scenario you can google "hog hunting Ft. Meyers" and a number of locations show up.

Have a great vacation and shoot straight.

All the best.

I'm not sure how far away it is from where you'll be but we hunted with Native Sons Outfitters near Cocoa Beach this past Jan. and had a blast.

Thanks, I do try to make the good shot lol.

I did a search and found a few places then thought i would ask for help here. I have a lot of trust in the folks here!

you pay to hunt pigs??????

What, you don't spend $350 on tenderloin?

Hell no!!
I don't eat no swine , and I don't hunt them either
and friend , its safe to say I wouldn't pay to hunt the bloody things either .
I know plenty of blokes that go away blazing pigs ,my youngest son included

I'm interested in hog outfitters near Orlando. Gonna be there near the end of March.

I went with Ron's Guide service out side of Okachoobee last year and had a blast.

My friend, you are missing out on a fun hunt!

Thanks for all the advice guys. The difficulty is that there does not seem to be a good West to East route from where I will be but these places all seem great.

Pheroze,

Give my friend Brett with Chappy's Outfitters a call. 800-358-5541

The are located on the northwest corner of Lake Okeechobee in a town called Lakeport. I would guess they are no more than a 2 hour drive from the Captiva area. I think you could jump on FL-HWY-80 and it's a straight shot over....They offer both still and dog hunts with rifle, bow, handgun, spear, knife, whatever you want.... Brett has been a family friend for years. We started hunting with them years ago when he was a guide, and now he is the owner. They are great folks that work hard for you and treat their clients right. They also happen to be one of the most reasonably priced hog hunting outfitters in the South Florida area. What some of these outfitters charge for a hog hunt these days is ridiculous....

This is a free range hunt for wild hogs. You are not hunting in a pen like many of these outfits do down here. Still, you should see lots of hogs and get a shooting opportunity on a still hunt. With dogs, an opportunity is pretty much guaranteed.

Anyway, give Brett a shout and tell him Dan with Limcroma Safaris recommended him. I guarantee you will be well taken care of...Here's a nice sow meat hog that my wife smacked last month with Brett.

Thanks!! I sent an email previously but the trip has now been moved by my daughter and my wife to the FLA Keys, ugh. They clearly have no regard for my personal wishes in this family vacation thing :A Banana Sad:Good thing I am not paying for it....hey wait a sec...

Well, I don't know if you like to fish or not, but you are going to a fishing paradize! Depending on what type of fishing you like, you can do blue water, and go in the back country. Many choices to choose from. Enjoy!

I am certainly looking at getting some fishing in! Should be fun, I am sure.

My wife and I have fished with Chuck who owns the Seaclusion in Key West. We have always caught a lot of fish. Our first time out with him was 10 years ago and have back three times since. Here's his website:

About 3/4 of my business comes from pig hunts. 350/day/hunter unlimited pigs. Many many people love to stack'em up. It's a lot of fun. I personaly dont eat them anymore. Not because I dont like them or anything I am just tierd of pork. We kill hundreds of them a year and they're a huge nusience where am at.

Don't know how you can't have fun while in Florida (as long as you spend your time in the Keys and very far away from South Beach). The fishing, boating, and driving is great, especially where I live.
I do find it mildly humorus that people are willing to pay lots of money and travel to hunt hogs while they are considered a pest here in the south. With that said, I still do enjoy hunting hogs, especially with a bow. I don't really eat pork (I wonder why Saul doesn't eat pork? ;)) but it is still fun to hunt them. I'm more of a beef ribs guy anyway...

Love your rifle! I'm needing a heavier rifle for Africa. Sold my .375 Dakota Safari several trips ago. Would you have any interest in a trade of some sort involving the custom 338/06 I have listed here on the site ( I have some room on my asking price. I also have a large quantity of the reloading components and new Redding dies as well as a box of A-Square Dead Tough ammo.
