Hi all,

Long time lurker first time account creator / poster.

Born in Zimbabwe before leaving during the early 00's to Australia.

Collector and owner of some odd cals. and wanting to break into the "african" cartridges.
Joined the page to learn more about the larger cartridges maybe even secure something if a classified pops up in aus. Been chasing a newer /low round count CZ550 safari mag for months in 375 H&H and feel I missed the boat when then fell out of production.

Currently own a Ruger Alaska in .375ruger and a hawkeye african in 416ruger... as well as several odd cartridges (30/40Kragg / 45-120 / 7.5x55swiss to list a few).

Thanks for the read.

Welcome to the posting side.

Welcome. You'll eventually land that CZ with a bit of patience and a few $s.

Welcome to the site from an original bananabender; I know another ex-Zimbabwean now li9ving/working here, who does some exquisite stocks for our sort of rifles; I recommend him highly: Brett Russouw, or BDR riflestocks; based in Browns Plains, in Brisbane.

Cheers Geoff,

Will have to look him up when I come to the next custom.

I think my father may have a prohect on the go that will need a new stock.

Thanks again

Hello @Oddbore75 & welcome to AH … you’ve definitely landed in the right space for a good chat or look @ all things old to new cal. & cartridges

AH members broaden my perspective on maker, cal./cartridges beyond the .338 WM which I deemed the heavy hitter in the safe. I stumbled across a 80’s Heym SR 20 in .375 H&H on a German Shooting Haus bulletin board, old post (8-months) & oddly the owner had forgotten he had it up for sale! She’s a Safe Queen for now …

Then I handled a dusty, low round CZ BRNO 602 .375 H&H in a small family shop this Spring & the hogback stock design just kinda stuck on me! Now I’m down a BRNO 602 Rabbit Hole & after a Trio: .375/done; I’ve located the .458 WM in Sweden; & patiently searching for a .416, & research says there also a .358.

I’m a fan of your Hawkeye African .416 Ruger.

There are some solid & enjoyable OZ blokes on AH … enjoy!

Happy Trails

I realize how hard the bug has bit. I’m on the cusp of safari #2 and I’m looking to plan #3 with my 11 year old a year from now while looking at my work schedule for overtime and computing the math of how many shifts are needed….

I'd like to get some too.

Hallo Marius- do you have possibilities for stags in September during the roar? Where are your hunting areas in Romania?

I'm about ready to pull the trigger on another rifle but would love to see your rifle first, any way you could forward a pic or two?
