Asking for a friend.....need a recommendation for women's pants? She is a full figured lady, needs hip space and is 5'6". Normally wears a 16 -18 in USA sizes. Trip is Sep in Namibia.

My wife seems similar to your wife’s dimensions. She has a couple pair of kuiu pants that she really likes. She is always cold and likes the heavier weight.

She also has a pair of browning pants but I can’t find them on line anymore and not sure if they still make them.

we looked at the companies that cater to women and mostly found them to be severely overpriced-my wife who will always find and buy the most expensive item in a store, didn’t like the womens companies as much as others. . .

Check with Jim African Sporting Creations. Jim is a sponsor here. He may have TAG clothing in that size.

Columbia offers "plus size" (room for hips and bust) options in most of their womens outdoor lines (PFG, etc) and occasionally offers "camo" patterns (finding earth tone pants is easy)..

another option might be 5.11... Their Styke Pant comes in sizes up to 20 for women.. So does their TacLite Pro Pant..

I would recommend trying Prois, which makes women’s hunting clothing. I’ve gotten a bunch of their gear and have been impressed with quality and fit. Not all of their pants are designed to be drug through the thorns in Africa, but they have a decent selection so you can pick what fits your needs. They have sales pretty frequently, so if their products are of interest, sign up for their emails.

Take a look at “kings camo”-they make camo or solid colors in sizes for full figured women. My wife said the ones she liked were kings, not browning, but she said the camo is “hideous” and she only liked the solid color ones

I think 5.11's would be the ticket.

I'm wearing my 5.11s on my upcoming hunt. Screw the all cotton pants. I wear those hunting when it's in the 20s. They're too hot when walking all day. I think 5.11s would be perfect too for women hunters in Africa.

My 5.11s are ALL cotton. Was not a problem when it hit over 100 F last August.

They have women's version as well.

+1 on the 5.11 all cotton. I worked 5-1/2 years in Angola and worn this regularly and have worn them on all my safaris.

My wife likes the Carhartt B151 Loose Fit Utility Work Pants. They are cut for men, but seem to fit her quite well. She's 64" tall and 145#. Not sure of the size she wears but the colors are shades of green & brown and 7.5 oz 100% cotton.

They are nice and lightweight but still a tight enough weave to resist thorns and brush. I have a few pairs myself and really like them.

Wife wears Duluth Trading and Eddie Bauer.

5.11 is also a good choice.

Wow, I didn't know 5.11 made all cotton tactical pants? My 5.11s and Browning Black Label tactical pants are 65% polyester/35% cotton. I only have a couple pair of all cotton BDUs (winter weight) that I wear when it's real cold but without any significant moisture forecast. I learn something new almost everytime I'm here on AH? Thanks!

I've never hunted anything but doves in temperature 90 plus? I wish I had worn shorts then! LOL

Well, it depends on the flora. The "blade thorns" were everywhere, not to mention a bit of crawling. I did not want my legs to look like my arms, but worse. I did have shorts, but decided against it.

hi there, I'm from south Africa and I love the Johnson workwear branded pants but I'm not sure if you can find them in the US. I wore them on my hunting trip in the Kalahari 2021 and it was really pleasant walking in them. very quiet and stretchy too, I could even sit down in them with my legs crossed haha.

I realize how hard the bug has bit. I’m on the cusp of safari #2 and I’m looking to plan #3 with my 11 year old a year from now while looking at my work schedule for overtime and computing the math of how many shifts are needed….
