Hunting With Paw Print Safaris in 2016

You are certainly not hunting in SA Charle!! Are you going elsewhere with Pieter? I know he is a man with a plan!! Good luck and will like to see what you guys get

Best regards

No tags in SA this year so pieter has made plans for another place for charlie. He does what ever he must to make the hunters have a safe legal hunt.

I bought a Pelican rolling suitcase for this trip which should make getting ammo and stuff there a lot easier. Last year the storage box from Cabelas I took was the last item to come up from the plane and someone hand carried it. This one has great rollers and should do the job.

Thanks Witold I'm very excited about this hunt. I hope that some of the AH members will share dos and don'ts concerning hunting Leopards on this thread!

Reedy I predict that you will like hunting with Pieter so much this year that you WILL hunt with him again......and soon

Yeah I get that feeling from reading all the positive hunt reports and speaking with people who have hunted with Pieter!

Seams there are several of us with spotted fever this year.
Best of luck. Hope you get a fantastic hunt and a great leopard!
JTT

Good luck Charlie! Leopard is certainly something I'm paying more attentions to myself, just have to find time...... There is a high degree of confidence obvious on the jacket! That is a bold statement on a leopard hunt;)

You had my curiosity high seeing the 416 Ruger without a scope. Are you doing something different with optics for this hunt?

JTT are you going for one? Where. Hope you get a good one if your going!

Good luck with your hunt!! I, too have "spotted fever". My cure is about 90 days away in Zim. I should be back before you leave, maybe if all goes well I will have some tips for you.

Bob no new optics that picture of the guide gun is just from when I brought it home new.
As for the vest......well Pieter sent me that vest for the elephant hunt last year and I added the leopard for good luck this year. Had the elephant on the vest before I got it so I'm doing the same with spots! Pieter has hunted the area where we are going and he knows how to bait them so I'm very hopeful.

K-man I wish you best on your hunt. Any learnings you care to share will be eagerly accepted.

Thanks. Hopefully my advice will be "what to do" not "what NOT to do".... Will be back end of May. Be great if you ever want to come by and visit. You can critique my trophy room and tell me about Elephant hunting.

CAustin,
I am headed to Namibia May 1st, hoping to be healed the itch is driving me insane.

@CAustin , all the best for your leopard. I think 2 of the most important things on a leopard hunt is baiting in the right spots and if the leopard hits a bait, make sure that fresh bait is put up continually. 2nd the position of the blind is vital, wind direction, where the leopard usually approaches the bait from. I am sure people Pieter and the Zim gents are old boys at this and will know perfectly. I am not sure 416 is the perfect gun on a leopard, I would rather opt for a 375hh, accuracy is what is really going to count on leopard, but that's for each to decide. Last point, limit the stuff you take into the blind, you don't want stuff around to make a noise. Pee bottle is vital, but this is stuff the ph's will know.

Ha! Simon, you must have had a few clients my age before.... a couple of hours is about all I can "stand" when sitting still...good point.

Look forward to hearing all about your successful hunt Charlie!

k-man, the bottle is for me :ROFLMAO:, not something you want to share, get a bottle with wide neck..(y)

Charlie,

Outstanding, I'm very happy for you! I look forward to reading the report and seeing the photos. I'll be going back to SA in 2017, but no DG on the list for that trip. Hopefully one day I'll be able to swing and Buffalo / Hippo hunt.
Cheers,
Mike

Yep! To all my friends at Africa Hunting ........Pieter is taking me Leopard Hunting this year. Number four of the Big Five! I'm very excited about this hunt as I am with all hunts! I'm starting to see SPOTS everywhere.

I would very much appreciate any and all advice from AH members concerning hunting Leopard. Details of your hunts will help as did your sound advice on elephant hunting. The more I'm aware of the better.

Number 4 of the Big 5, that's awesome. All the best to you!

Business is the only way to fly. I'm headed to SA August 25. I'm hoping that business isn't an arm and a leg. If you don't mind, what airline and the cost for your trip. Mine will be convoluted. I'll be flying into the states to pick up my 416 Rigby as Thailand doesn't allow firearms (pay no attention to the daily shootings and killings) so I'll have 2 very long trips.
