I'M GETTING EXCITED

What you going after? and always remember if the PH's eyes go :E Shocked: you should go :W Cal 50:. (when legally possible)

Filling out my paper work for hunting rifle permits is getting me excited. Can't wait for March to get here. First time for me 17 days away from work will be great.
Tom

I think your level of excitement is just beginning to boil. Wait for it! Wait fir it! It's going to be the adventure of a life time!

17 days would be great, but be ready to bring home more animals than you are currently planning. I planned on 5, maybe 6, came home with 9 and wish I had been able to stay longer and hunt more. It was an amazing experience from start to finish and one I hope to do again soon.

My package has Kudu, Impala, Springbok, Blesbok and Warthog, thinking about adding a bush buck and Blue wilderbeast
If you can add them both then you don't beat yourself up later that you didn't when you had the oppurtunity. You are going to have the time of your life. I didn't really understand how amazing Africa was until I got there. I'm still soaking it in and I've been back for 4 months now. Be warned though, the fever gets infinitely worse once you get back. Africa is like a drug and you can never get enough. I'd be willing to bet I could go a hundred times and still never get enough. It will consume every moment and all you will want to do is get back as soon as possible.

I keep telling myself, "this will be my last time" with regard to hunting Africa, because I have so many other places around the world I would love to hunt. Time will tell. But I think I'm in for a losing battle. LOL! :E Laugh:

I think the same as Christina.

Def take some extra cash if you can and if your PH starts drooling at an animal, shoot it!!!

How many hunting days? Are you doing side trips as well?

And save time, start planning the second trip now. :E Big Grin:

Can't wait to read the report!!!

If a nice bushbuck presents itself to you my recommendation is to take it!

17 days would be great! Enjoy. Looking forward to your hunt report and pics.

Nine days of hunting the rest sight seeing. It will be my girlfriend and I.

With that much time I'd definitely suggest being relatively picky on the animals and make sure you get the ones you want. But like I said, if the PH drools, SHOOT!!!!! :)

hope you have a great trip. there is no feeling like this in the world, the excitement of a future hunting trip gets everyone smiling

I'm jealous there is nothing like a first trip.
Take plenty of pictures!
I hope you have a good time!

I know what you mean, except, I leave in one week for my first trip and my first Cape Buffalo! I am both excited and nervous. Not nervous for the hunting part, but for what I didn't plan for. I have been at the range religiously, researched bullets, powders, loads, and watched Boddington on Buffalo so many times the DVD stretched! Now, I am FINALLY going for mine.... Well, time to start planning the next, so I can have something familiar to cling too!

Man oh man You lucky bugger .
I hope you can hold it togeather till you go ?
If not give me a yell and ill take your place .
Cheers .

GOOD LUCK to all you guys above that are about to leave for Africa.
Panielsen, one thing to always remember... your high costs are the airfare, daily rates etc... so, ONCE that is paid for, GO FOR MAXIMIMUM you can on that hunt. Bear in mind the additional Pack & Dip, trophy export costs and the final taxidermy. Taxidermy can always be delayed and most of that cost comes way later anyway.. hope to hear how it went.
PS If you get a chance at a bushbuck... TAKE IT!!!!!!!.. they are not easy to come by in general

Good luck and play safe .......lots of photos !

Business is the only way to fly. I'm headed to SA August 25. I'm hoping that business isn't an arm and a leg. If you don't mind, what airline and the cost for your trip. Mine will be convoluted. I'll be flying into the states to pick up my 416 Rigby as Thailand doesn't allow firearms (pay no attention to the daily shootings and killings) so I'll have 2 very long trips.

Hi EGS

I read your thread with interest. Would you mind sending me that PDF? May I put it on my website?
