Hey team starting to plan my trip and one thing there is not a lot of information about is the cost of getting your mounts back home, have got one quote so far for $1300 USD to Auckland excluding customs charges (includes a Gemsbok shoulder mount, and a kudu and impala European), just curious to find out what others in this neck of the woods have been paying as to be this seems awfully steep

Also have another question for those all over the world, for those who got a quote for both dip and pack vs. mounting the trophies in Africa was there much of a change in price to your home destination

in 2010
19 capes and horns , 2 tanned full capes )zebra and a giraffe)
back to Melbourne for just under 3 k .the capes were salted ,matt
then we got an eleven grand taxidermy bill.
this year im looking at most mounts done in Africa , all full capes tanned . but will be doing quite afew eruomounts aswell .plus skulls .
just have pay the gst on the taxidermy in oz .
not sure in un zed.

that's not a bad price for that many capes, who was that through? but crickey that's one hell of a taxidermist bill ouch!!!!
that's a good point about the GST forgot to take that into account bugger
what advantages is there to having the work done in Africa is there any coin to save or more just the fact that do those kind of mounts on a regular basis?
cheers for the reply

im thinking l will come out a tad in front ,but theres also much bigger crates to be freighted aswell ,and the gst .
but you get them back much sooner is one bonus .
and im hoping that the African taxidermist may have accsess more unique poses to the plains game manikins .
my lioness will be done back here though as my taxidermist knows exactly how l want her laying .
in some of the threads on here there is difference of opinions .but l think youll save a bit .
don't know where your hunting .
wy bride and l are going to the east cape and the taxidermist knows the outfitter we will hunting with ,so that's another bonus . they both speak highly of one another .

oh yeah the company that imported for us was global freight ,and the agent was tony mercurri .
in Africa the dip and pack was swft dipp . the export company was safari cargo system im sure ,but the agent was Pieter Erasmus .

hmmm choices choices they sound like the 2 options are very even then
getting them back sooner would be a great bonus and any saving would be good

Thanks again for your support on the Rhodesian Shotgun thread. From the amount of "LIKES" it received, it appears there was only ONE person who objected. Hes also the same one who continually insisted on interjecting his posts that werent relevant to the thread.
