I just wanted to share something that really worked out very well for me. I bought a beautiful CZ 550 American Safari in 448 Lott with a fancy stock recently. I love the gun but the action , like many 550s, wasn’t very smooth. I worked the bolt hundreds of times and it helped but never got as slick as I wanted. So I thought I would try an upgrade that I have done on almost all of my bolt guns.... I had the bolt and extractor jeweled.
Got it back and WOW! It made a huge difference. It’s as smooth as any bolt gun I have including a Fierce and a few Sakos, known for smoothness.
I will recommend Baldwin Bolt Jeweling as he has done about 10 over the years for me and he is very fast at getting it done and back to you..... very reasonable price as well. The deluxe 16 is the pattern I chose and it looks as good as it works! Give it a try!

Very nice!

Letzhunt, I'm that you were able to get the action smoothed up to your liking. The operative question on a CZ 550 is how well does it feed? Getting my CZ 550 to feed is where I had issues with it.

Gotta love it when the function is as good as the look. Glad it worked!

Looks great!

It seems like jeweling isn’t that tough of a task, have any members tackled their own? I’ve been toying with the idea of getting an index to try it out.

I realize how hard the bug has bit. I’m on the cusp of safari #2 and I’m looking to plan #3 with my 11 year old a year from now while looking at my work schedule for overtime and computing the math of how many shifts are needed….
