Just got home from SCI convention in Nashville! Had a blast! Got to meet Jim Shockey, seemed like a real nice guy. I read his new book, its not what I expected but loved it! Got to meet Craig Bodington and hear him talk about cape buffalo hunting, even got to ask him a couple questions. Saw that Alain guy with the long white hair who shoots big doubles at buffalo but he seems like a goober so didnt bother speaking to him!

Wife and I got 3 ridiculously cheap hunts at auction, 2 africa 1 Argentina. We researched them extensively before we went to the event, with good input we know there, so feel good about all 3. Anyone else go?? Definitely going next year!

I've been here since Wednesday. There were a few hunts that went fairly cheap. I was not in the market with a full schedule Already. The banquets were good as usual. I found myself quite busy with people who are hunting with me or needing my advice. I enjoyed every minute of it and can't wait for next year.

Another great convention! Nashville continues to be outstanding.

Booked for Austria late Srptember 2024 and Cameroon spring 2025.

I'll posts some pictures and videos of what we saw of interest:

Jason Aldean concert- this was a private concert just for SCI attendees. Openning act was Mitchell Tenpenny.

Day 3 we started with a cooking class by Michael Hunter, owner of Antler restaurant in Toronto, Canada. He gained some fame and publicity after anti-hunter vegans protested in front of his restaurant a few years ago. As a counter protest, he set up a butcher block in his front window and butchered a deer in front of the protesters.

Cooking class was great, Canadian goose breast with blueberry compote. He was also serving wild game jambalaya to convention attendees.

Also, Country Music Hall of Fame is right across the street from the convention hall. It's not bad. Here's Elvis's cadillac:

Some thoughts:

Busiest day by far was Friday. Could barely talk to outfitters, it was so packed. If you want to talk business with an outfitter, I recommend Wed/Thurs.

Jason Aldean concert was cool. I didn't realize it was a private show for SCI. I thought they'd just booked some seating blocks at a regular concert.

Nashville continues to deliver. Great convention. Great town.

Also, highly recommend The Southern Steak and Oyster restaurant. Casual vibe, amazing food:

After 2025, what’s the plan for future conventions in Nashville??? Hopefully it has found a long-term home in Nashville.

At the Veteran’s breakfast SCI announced they will remain in Nashville for the next ten years.

At the Veterans Breakfast on Saturday morning, I sat with the gentleman from the South African Professional Hunters Association. Very nice people and they were also veterans from the South African military.

Great show again this year. Glad that SCI renewed for 10 more years in Nashville. Happy hunting, TheGrayRider a/k/a Tom.

Is this rifle sold? If not what is the weight of it and do you know if there is enough difference in diameter between the 35W and the 9.3 to allow for a rebore to a 9.3x62 which is what I am after?
Thanks,
Gary (Just down the road in Springfield)

Forgive me if this is the incorrect area, I signed up to this forum just now because I wanted to be on the list to purchase a copy of your autobiography. Please feel free to pass my information along to whomever is selling. Thank you so much. I look forward to it!
I like the Tillie in my picture. They are supposed to fit loose (2 fingers inside hat band), have mesh for cooling, and hold their shape after washing.
