Have a good look at the 338-06 (basically the same thing as the 338 SABI) just more popular and dies are relatively easy to get. Almost identical ballistics - great cartridges in every respect.

Unless you have practised, and are proficient at shooting at moving targets so that you know how to lead a target (shotguing for example) You should not be taking the shot - not unless you do t mind blown away arses ...

I have a 9.3x62 with a genuine Mauser action it has a side safety and a lovely clean 1/14 twist Swedish barrel - it works just fine for me.

7x64 is an awesome calibre, shoots flat and hits hard - duiker to Kudu no problems at all - stick in a 173 gr bullet and eland and moose are on the cards..... Here's mine - a Mannlicher Schoeneur..

The Lady Grey area is really nice, I hunted Mountain Reedbuck and Vaal Rhebuck in that vicinity many years ago, it was a great (hard) hunt - the whole of the Eastern Cape is awesome - I really miss it - I'm sure you will have a great time. I'll be back there next year, cant wait.

Depends on what you are hunting - half a dozen springbuck is easily do-able in an afternoon, can't say he same about Nyala, Black Wildebeest or even bush buck. I like to hunt two species in 7 days - that's it - come back next year and do the same again. Might think about throwing a little...

The steers monkey gland steaks are simply awesome - next time you are in SA try it. Mind you their I love the kingklip as well!

Give me a pair of "veldskoene" (vellies), hunted all over SA in them for years, so did my father, grandfather and great grandfather, nothing like 150 years of tradition eh?

My Musgrave in 7x57 killed countless Kudu, Impala, springbuck , bush buck and wildebeest. Sold it when we immigrated - still regret that! Today I have a 7x64 to fill that role, and I really like that calibre.

Here's a couple of pics of mine - old work horse.... It's going to go with me to SA (Eastern Cape) next year, when I take my sons to PE to show them where they were born. Hopefully it can chalk up a Kudu or two while over there. And one more
