Delta ban on Trophies

LOL. Well it did take you longer to get frustrated than it did me!

IdaRam has this exactly correct. There is no corporate conspiracy to deprive hunters of the right to hunt, or to own guns, or fill in the blank. Those entities are the basis of our capitalist system. And the executives who run them wake up every morning terrified that something will happen which undermines their perceived value to their shareholders. Corporations which depend upon large numbers of customers (i.e. airlines) are particularly easy to target by what is essentially mob action. The one good thing about a mob is that it has the attention span of a two-year-old. They are emotionally rather than factually driven. Sometime in the next few days or weeks the mob will switch to a new target. The antis trying to generate pressure will still be there, but their bludgeon will have evaporated, at least for a time. That will be the opportunity for Delta to announce a responsible approach to protecting wildlife where they will strictly adhere to Cites or whatever to assure the long term welfare of Africa's wildlife. Hopefully, we and the organizations to which we belong, will have provided them plenty of suggestions on how to frame that position.

Millions in revenue just laying there. Screw Delta,UPS is on it and has said no problems here..Brown will ship it and there is always shipping by sea.

I think some of y'all may be missing the point. This is not coming organically from within Delta airlines. The airlines are under attack from the anti's just like we are. The folks in the big offices on the top floor at Delta airlines are not collaborating with friggin PETA for heck sakes. They are business executives with plenty of headaches and zero time to deal with stupid crap from radical, left wing whack jobs. They have all kinds of safety and regulatory nightmares to deal with in addition to trying to keep their airline profitable.
THERE HAS BEEN AN ATTACK CAMPAIGN GOING ON FOR MONTHS IN WHICH A BUNCH OF AIRLINES HAVE BEEN TARGETED!
Here's what they are hearing, "Now you see what kind of power and influence we have? Look at america's response to this pissant dentist. What do you think america's response is going to be to you when we brand your airline as "THE CARRIER" of slaughtered lions from africa?"
Delta and all other airlines should hear our message too. No doubt! We should tell them we're disappointed with their decision and unless they revise it we're going elsewhere. But our voice should be the one of reason and intelligence. Let's be the rational party here. The more we can contrast our message and behavior with the absolutely irrational and insane behavior of these whackos the more success we are going to have convincing anyone to listen to us.
One of these days in the near future the "normal people" are going to say enough! You crazy mother effers have gone too far. In this country we don't convict and punish people without due process. We don't destroy their property and threaten their families. We don't blackmail and extort corporations.
My only point; Delta is not plotting against hunters. They are trying to keep from being the target of a massive smear campaign by the anti's.
WE SHOULD ALL ABSOLUTELY CONTACT DELTA AND EXPRESS OUR POSITION.
The most effective message is going to be:
There are 80 million gun owners in America. There are 20 million hunters. These are not insignificant numbers. Don't underestimate the power and resolve of this group. This Cecil issue will pass and we'll all still be here. You don't want to have alienated us. Revise your policy and do what's right.
If Delta believes we are already a lost cause then they have nothing to lose by just banning trophy shipments.
Well said IdaRam!

Some of the ocean freight companies are not taking shipments either right now. I am sure some still are but a few have stopped taking any trophy shipment not just big 5 stuff

My assumption is once this all calms down the airline will go back to shipping like normal. Americans have a short attention span and it won't be long for the next Ferguson to take over the spotlight l. I have a lioness that is ready to ship and will be affected by this.

In my previous post I was never alluding that the airlines were in a conspiracy among one another to target hunters, but were being used as a pawn by the anti hunter group to limit or curtail hunting activity within the scope of the airlines contribution to enable the hunter to travel worldwide. I am fully aware that the stockholder is the all important board that the airline has to answer to, and as such have reacted to the outrage expressed by the anti hunters . If the antis get by with the no shipment, then when will the no hunter, no firearms be banned, all expressed in such numbers that the airlines will acquiesce to the their outcry. Of course there is no conspiracy among the carriers, but makes you wonder how within hours of Deltas announcement, AA and United joined the ban. Remember for every action there is a reaction, wonder what the next step the antis will do to "extort" their demands, either directly and outright or thru a indirect trickle down effect. Delving deeper than the surface sometimes exposes the underlying goal . Just a lot of small steps at a time.

Well Delta, AA and United are partners, aren't they?

I respect UPS for standing up to what is right. I have lost all respect for the whimps from Delta. I have noticed that the airlines feel they are doing you a favor by letting you fly with them. I can think of a lot of reasons to dislike them not just the refusal of shipping trophies. their crappy food and lousy seats. It was fun to fly in the 70,s

And as far as them worried about their shareholder. That a laugh. The average American would fly Delta with old Cecil in the cargo bay if it was the cheapest and most conveinent flight.

The typical fler looking for a cheap flight is probably not a shareholder. The airline seems to want to protect the bottom line and not lose the paying passenger with the loudest voice,,,,,,,the anti.

The same can be said about the protesters or anti-hunters.

Right now they are listing to the protesters and not their shareholders in my opinion. They are just going by public opinion for their decision.

Think about how this will affect all taxidermy in Africa, What an act of unintended consequence. Think of the revenue generated by taxidermy.

I think we should have a topic consisting of a list concerning what airlines have what policies concerning sport-hunted trophies. It'd make things much easier for a lot of people.

I'm as stunned as you. But if buffalo got banned why did giraffe not? Or hippo for that matter.

Because they aren't part of the Big 5, simple as that. Your question assumes that some logic or analysis went into what was purely a knee jerk decision.

RIIIIIIIGHT! once again, I assumed people always use reason. I am always forgetting human ignorance, my bad

Don't kid yourself. They are next, if the antis aren't stopped. Bluey, don't think they will stop at mammals. After all, you illegally murdered Nemo and lured him off the reef. Can you see the twitter feed?

There's a bit in the book "Game Changer" about how PETA is trying to get people to stop eating ocean fish by calling them (and I'm try EXTREMELY hard not laugh) "sea kittens"o_Oo_Oo_O:LOL::LOL::LOL:

Hi
Just a run down on the last couple months. I had trophies in SA and they were at the airport with Delta for eight days. Before they finally got shipped to Atlanta. I called Delta Freight after they had sat at the airport for six days and the girl got them to ship the next day. The Dip and Ship company didn't know they were shipped for three or four days. They kept telling me they would be shipped the next day. Once they got to Atlanta they sat in coustoms for 13 days before they finally made the trip by truck to Chicago. They sat there for a couple days then off to Dennis.
