What Type Of Stock Do You Prefer?

For Africa or anywhere conditions are pretty easy on the gun and dry...WALNUT. For Alaska or anywhere the gun will be subjected to rain, sea spray, ice and more rain, all the while strapped to the side of a pack...McMillan.

    Crusader Safaris

I have hunted with Crusader. Most of their land is cattle/sheep farms. You'll be crossing low fences and going through gates a LOT. In the Umkomas area, the brush is so thick a three strand barb wire fence really isn't an issue. The game probably slip through a fence without even noticing...

good load for plains game for a .300wby

Weatherby cases Federal Large Rifle Mag primers 88 grains H1000 180 Swift A-Frame 3200ish FPS out of a 26 inch factory Winchester tube Partitions shot "OK" with that same load and probably could be improved, but since the Swifts are my favorite, I didn't pursue it.

    Anti-Malaria Medication Side Effects

We've always used Larium and while any effects were mild, I feel like it makes me have some odd emotional swings. Highs higher, lows lower, and the effect seems to last a few months after we return. Really, I am not sure I'm not imagining the whole thing. BTW, I never had any of the wild...

Question on model 70 Winchester 416 rem mag.

From what I have heard, there were some factory Remington ammo lots that showed high pressure problems. But it was just some specific lots of some specific loads. The problem has been found and corrected. That said, I have never fired a factory round in either of mine. I load a 400 grain...

    375 Wby - Good Choice?

Well, I was planning on taking a 375 Weatherby to Tanzania for buff this year. so I have faith in it working. I have a load worked up my Model 70 that puts 300 grain Barnes Banded solids and TSXs in a sub-inch group at 2700+fps. The only reason I changed my mind was I have a 416 Rem Mag that...

    Bullets for Leopard

My only (so far) leopard was taken from a blind, in daylight and in Namibia. One shot from a 300 grain A-Frame from a 375H&H. He did run about 20 yards but was dead as a hammer when we found him. The next time I go after leopard though, I think I'll try a fairly heavy barreled 338 WinMag I...

    Bullets Choices for 375 H&H Multi-Species Hunt

What I have used on buff is the Swift A-Frame backed by Barnes flat nosed solids. Worked great. For my leopard I used a 300 grain Swift A-Frame. Maybe a little tougher than optimal, but it worked great. I would stick to those two...as a matter of fact, I plan to next year. Only in a 375...

Congratulations! Tuff hunts are the ones we remember and you have yourself a pair of great trophies. I have known Vaughan for several years, have hunted with him and will again. He WILL treat you right. What guns/loads did you use?
