Hello. I came across this howdah. It's in great shape. Is anyone interested in purchasing it? I'm located in Arizona. I can't find much info on it but looks old and well built. My guess is teak, steel and brass. Has slots for a canopy and seems complete. Not sure on price but I'll take offers.

I’m interested. Need more info. I can’t play the guess the number I’m guessing game though, I never guess correctly.

Wow, you don't see that everyday.

yep, missed the one that came though here two years ago. Always thought they were neat coffee tables.
Very cool.

You could even get double use out of it once your full-size elephant mount is finished. Let me know when you need some help getting it in the house, I'll be right down. ;)

Now that's a coffee table with some history behind it.
Not bad looking either. I'll need to be on the look out for one on this side of the pond :D

For sale threads must have a price listed.

Some of the photos aren't loading for me (having internet connectivity problems out here) but it might be helpful to know the dimensions for this item.

Wow, what are the dimensions?

FYI - I found a similarly looking table on the Antiques Atlas website and it is referred to as a Moroccan Style Coffee Table. Picture one of its listing appears to shows features / style nearly identical the first photo posted above.

@Gustavo520 Do you have any additional details or history on the item you listed?

So I think the larger history on this piece is as follows:

@Jason 1971 was trying to sell it on this forum in 2017. I wrote him with my interest, but he never replied.

Then this went to auction in the UK, or its an identical reproduction, here https://www.antiques-atlas.com/antique/moroccan_style_coffee_table/as175a3147

And then in 2018 on AH member @Hbrab states he's French and has a nearly identical one.

I'm not sure if they are all the same howdah or if they are all just neat reproductions to have nearly identical looks and conditions, but either way I've wanted to buy one for awhile and posted an advert on this forum asking to find one for a coffee table awhile back.

Still looking for one, or interested in this one, if I can get a price quoted.

Selling price is $1000 US plus shipping. Thank you

Hi @Gustavo520 I did some digging online. Found hundreds of these.

Two stories come up. Story 1 is they are made in Morocco as reproductions. Story 2 is that they were made in India out of reclaimed oxcarts.

Somewhere along the way, a few of these were mischaracterized as elephant howdahs. They are not, to my great disappointment because if it was, I would give you the $1000 gladly.

Google Indian Ox Cart Coffee Table and look at google images. You'll see dozens and dozens of identical specimens.

It must be a lot smaller than I assumed it is.

Looking at the prices, $1000 still seems like a steal even though it’s not a howdah

I looked at them. $3500!

Well all I can say is if you were near me I would take the coffee table off you as I think that is fair price, I would not be surprised in this day & age if it was made from some thing else but does very much look like a Howdah/Elephant Saddle to me but how to tell ?

I wish we had our Indian members posting still or even looking in, they might have knowlege on these, did some Dick Head piss them off ?

Super cool looking, I will be in Arizona in a month, will reach out if you still have it. Im leaving for Africa soon so not able to invest much thought into it until I return. Good luck with the sale.

Is this rifle sold? If not what is the weight of it and do you know if there is enough difference in diameter between the 35W and the 9.3 to allow for a rebore to a 9.3x62 which is what I am after?
Thanks,
Gary (Just down the road in Springfield)

Forgive me if this is the incorrect area, I signed up to this forum just now because I wanted to be on the list to purchase a copy of your autobiography. Please feel free to pass my information along to whomever is selling. Thank you so much. I look forward to it!
I like the Tillie in my picture. They are supposed to fit loose (2 fingers inside hat band), have mesh for cooling, and hold their shape after washing.
