Due to this Coronavirus and all the flights etc being a major issue I now have plenty time on my hand , fortunately my son who will be 21 this weekend has a few days leave so we went hunting . PAC hunting to be specific .. First was a Buffalo cow which apparently was being a threat to the school children that walked to school in the vicinity as well as the cattle boys who tendered their cattle .. I was called and informed of this situation just 2 days ago and took my son with ..sometimes these things work out and many times they don’t .. in a nut shell we arrived at the scene to be greeted by a dozen or more villagers armed with spears and axes plus a handful of dogs who all had been chasing this buff cow the whole day as well as being chased in return .. It was a short stalk / walk through the brush to where we found the cow amongst some cattle . My son made a good shot and the problem was solved .. I did feel sorry for this buffalo as it was probably lost , you’ll notice in the photo that these villagers are well armed and probably poach in adjacent forestry blocks .. not much I can do with regards to that and this is typical Africa ... The very next day I was called out to deal with problem elephant and again another 2 hour or more drive from Bulawayo in the opposite direction we found ourselves waiting by the crops.. 11pm last night 2 bulls found their way into the crops and I gave my son first shot which he did well and a few more shots by him and I we solved that problem... as much as I like doing this work I also wish I didn’t have to but if I don’t someone else will and many a time if it’s not done professionally and properly the result is a wounded animal and that’s never good.
