Yellow Fever Vaccine Record Still Needed?

Is proof of yellow fever vaccination still required when flying into Johannesburg, say from Zimbabwe? I knew it used to be however two years ago they didn’t check my record at OR Tambo when coming in from Bulawayo.

If you are arriving from a Yellow Fever country you are required to have proof of Vaccination with you.
If you don't and they decide to check, you are not entering the country and will be sent back whence though comest.

Depends where you were before "say Zimbabwe " .....

In 2011 I took a flight that stopped in Senegal, a YF country. I never left the plane, but I got the YF vac because I did not want to screw up my trip. (I also had ideas about hunting in a YF country in the future so it was merely preparation.)

It takes one Customs officer just one minute to ruin your whole day!

If you are going to an area where is even a hint of some bug it is wise to get the necessary vac, I should think. An ounce of prevention---.

I look at it in a preventative fashion. What if your plane gets diverted and lands in a YF country to fix a mechanical problem and then continues on to your destination? You are probably not getting in.

I carry mine with me anytime I am going to the 3rd world.
