One of the older fellows I hunt with is now in his 80's. He recently gave me his Wyoming Knife that he has had for decades. I cleaned out the hair from the last moose that was trapped in the blade! I had heard of these things but never actually used one. It's quite a cool idea and seems to be very practical. Anyone use them regularly? Thoughts on them generally?

Is it the origional Wyoming knife or the bigger one the Wyoming Knife II?

I have both of them and like the smaller original one best. Just remember to keep the guard on the exposed blade when using the gut blade.

They both work alright but I am more of a traditional knife person.

I think it is an original.

Yep that is the original one.

Yep, that's original. I had one and used the gut hook but the skinner side didn't do it for me. It got lost somewhere and now I have a seatbelt cutter for a gut hook. Works great.

Sliced a 4 inch gash in my good wool pants while gutting a deer. Should have put the guard back on. Wife first asked if I was bleeding then laughed hysterically. When we got home I gave them to her to sew up. Still wear the wool pants. Wyoming knife stays in the gun cabinet for last 5 or 6 years.
