Interesting slide show I came across on the internet..........

or the PDF version is attached.

BENEFITS OF THE WILDLIFE INDUSTRY TO SOUTH AFRICA

· Current number of employees in private ranches sector > 150 000

· Remuneration generally 3 to 4 higher than conventional agriculture

· Employment levels higher with 3 times more staff per game ranch than per stock farm

Thanks for sharing that.

I have a degree in wildlife management and can recall one of my professors stating that native wildlife use the range more efficiently than domestic stock, thus have a higher profit potential. The South African model surely is proving it.

I really have to take the article with a pinch of salt.

I don't agree that the game industry produces 20% of red meat from April to September in SA. 150 000 tons of venison yearly, way to high the figure.

I won't agree with 3-4 higher salaries on game farms.

Looking at the buffalo breeding program, buff bulls @ 3 years, R800 000, most ranchers would be happy to get R50 000 AT 3 years for surplus bulls.

I will agree that the game numbers have increased a lot and game does less damage to the natural habitat.

Interesting but as Simon points out may not have the best data.

It would be good to look at his source material and find out how the data was collected.

Looking for shipping advice. I will be hunting in Limpopo in March, and was wanting to know a general idea of shipping costs to return my mounts to the US when completed. Air or sea? Only plains game hunting.

Good morning 7MAG. I have a NEW, never mounted, Leupold M8-4X Extended Eye Relief scope that I will sell you for $325 shipped to you. I was a Leupold rep for 12 years and this was always our preferred mounting for a lever gun, scout rifle style.

You’ve got an interesting screen name. Will the Thrill provided lots of great times for me as a lifelong Giants fan. Even though I never met him, a number of buddies either duck hunted or shared a dugout with him. He’s a great guy according to those guys. Cool screen name and if that’s your real name, it’s a great one.
