PPK's were available in 380 ACP only for so many years, I think a lot of people assume that's what James Bond was shooting. But according to the book Dr. No, he was actually shooting the diminutive 32 ACP.

If Cabela's had 32 ACP's for 34% off (They don't. I checked.), aLARPing I would go! The fact that they're made down the road in Ft. Smith, Arkansas is a plus since I always try to support the local guys whenever I can (which is why my AR-15 is a Wilson Combat).

A childhood friend once gave me his Grandfather's guns when he passed (the friend, although in the Marines did not shoot or hunt.) The one gun was a 26" bbl Win 22LR target gun (super accurate!) but the other was a WWII Walther PPK Waffenfabrik 32 ACP with the (dearly departed) Officer's name engraved on it. Sadly, it was lifted by someone who borrowed it decades ago and never gave it back. Perfect shape. Never fired. Only dropped once. A clear case of 30-06 vs. 32 ACP. lol No contest!

I was at my gunsmiths one day and he said take a look at this.
A beautiful Walther PPK in a presentation grade, velvet lined box. Gorgeous engraving and fully gold plated. It was very nice to say the least.
The person that bought it doesn't have a pistol licence but buys nice guns and has them sent to my gunsmith. He then rings him up and tells him he has another one in the way and put it with the rest. It is this chaps retirement fund.

In 32acp for a self defence gun you would be better off hitting them on the head with it or throw it at them. Looks nice, goes bang and makes a noise but not very effective. Stick with the 380

The 32acp would struggle to break a plate glass window but it's better than the 25acp.
The brick would be a better opt than both.

380 acp and 32 acp are equally terrible for self-defense. Neither produces enough velocity to reliably open JHP ammunition (especially from short barrels!).

As far as I'm concerned these are toys for shooting cans and targets with my buddies. The 380 acp produces fairly uncomfortable recoil in non-locking handguns (snappy). Thus, my preference for a 32 acp... the cans/targets won't notice the difference.

Not to derail the thread, but I have been having a ball with my suppressed Browning Buckmark and tin cans lately.

The PPK is great pistol and extremely accurate. I bought my first one the day I turned 21 and have carried one off an on for 30 years. I did not get a fancy box though. Get extra clips with the finger extender. My was actually stolen in break in and I got back like 3-4 years later when the police busted a drug house. So it's been around the block.
